    Recommended time to teach Network+

I'm pretty sure they just want the content taught so they can reskill and get the credit towards continuing education. They want four days, and I think that's pretty short. I would be like motor mouth and just ask people to keep the questions strictly to the material to keep it moving. It's...

    Recommended time to teach Network+

I'm pretty sure your CompTIA business rep would have to get you those materials. I can't remember exactly how, but I think someone here can fill in the gap of who that representative is.

    Recommended time to teach Network+

Thanks. Does it leave much time for questions, or just blaze through all this material? I'm used to 10 days per CompTIA course. They're recommending 4 days.

Common Exam Pitfalls and How to Overcome Them

I like all this. One thing I'll add in is that I want students to answer that question they're flagging. I tell them to go with their first gut feeling, flag it, and then come back to it at the end of the exam. I say this for two reasons: 1) If they run out of time because they loop back to...

    Recommended time to teach Network+

Hi everyone, I'm being asked to possibly teach a Net+ course as a reskill for a group of employees. What's the recommended time for the training in a 9-5 setting? Thanks!

    Need Guidance for CompTIA CTT+ (TK0-201 & TK0-202/203) Preparation

Hello. That certification is no longer being offered by CompTIA. It was retired a year ago. Best, DL Ross

    Additional Resources

Definitely take a look at Prowse and Parker/O'Shea. They are really good resources. I never recommend Messer exclusively. Like many pointed out, using only one resource is not advantageous As an instructor who is thorough and wanting my students to use other resources than the books we use, I...

    Additional Resources

When my students ask, I recommend a few, trusted resources: Mike Meyers: All-in-One Certification Exam Guide Mike Chapple: CompTIA A+ CertMike: Prepare. Practice. Pass the Test! Get Certified David Prowse: Exam Cram Professor Messer- his website: www.professormesser.com. Encourage them to...

Help for Student re: Request for Accommodation due to English as a Second Language

Thanks for the information. I talked to her, and we just spent a day running through practice tests and built up a vocabulary list of words she didn't know. She went in to a testing center and passed! She had just under three minutes to spare, but she did pass. Thanks for checking in with me. :)

Help for Student re: Request for Accommodation due to English as a Second Language

We are aware of that. However, there are times when people learn it in English and have learned the terminology in English, so they'd prefer to take the exam in English as well. Thanks.

Help for Student re: Request for Accommodation due to English as a Second Language

Ok, thanks, @Stephen Schneiter. More specifically: I teach a Canadian cohort A+. There is a Pakistani woman who became a Canadian citizen two years ago who is newer to English Other vendors, such as AWS, allow for a 30-minute extension of time for people who are taking the certification in...

Help for Student re: Request for Accommodation due to English as a Second Language

Hello everyone. I have been in a Zoom call with one of my students for almost two hours (insane!!!!). She is in my Canadian cohort in Calgary. I am in the USA. This woman clearly has a language barrier. English is not her first language; however, she studies hard, and she understands...

What is the shortest time to teach A+

Well, they are apparently not going to change the schedule out. I don't see how I'll have more time to do anything more than pick a few things to discuss per slide- like maybe 2 things. And then, I'll have to emphasize there's a significant amount they can get from the CompTIA materials. Thanks!

What is the shortest time to teach A+

Ok everyone. I'm getting a lot of pushback. They have other instructors that said that CompTIA revamped their courses to provide a week long training where they removed unnecessary material, so one week would be appropriate. Does anyone know anything about this? Or do you know anyone...

What is the shortest time to teach A+

I think 40 hours minimum would be best. I remember when I did A+ and learned it in my bootcamp. They did it over three months. That was a good, comfortable pace. It allowed us to ask questions, complete labs, and do homework. We were always well prepared for class.
