Nathan Denton

I was born in one of the Detroit suburbs in 1972 and from there started moving around from state to state until my mom decided to settle down in Ligonier, Indiana in 1978. I am the youngest of three children. While growing up, I always enjoyed tearing things apart to see how they worked and for the most part was able to reassemble and get them working again before my parents found out. When I was in high school, I knew that for my career, I wanted to do something technology based but at the time there wasn’t much out there to choose from. After graduating from high school in 1991, I joined the Navy. With my ASVAB scores, I was able to choose from a wide variety of jobs. I chose to be an Electrician’s Mate. While serving, I was able to travel to some interesting places. One place in particular was Iceland. That is where I found my appreciation for computers. Fast forward about 20 years, after a workplace injury, my doctors and lawyers told me that I needed to reinvent myself. I went back to college and earned an Associates Degree in Computer Networking. I taught computer science classes at Howe Military Academy from 2017 until 2019 when they closed their doors. I went from there to a local computer company and was able to get a better understanding of what the Information Technology world was all about. In 2020 I started teaching for Indiana Digital Learning School.
