    NIST KSA Mapping

Has anyone mapped the NIST KSAs to CompTIA's courses? Specifically, I'm looking at Sec+ and Net+ to start with. I plan on mapping them myself, but if someone has already done it, then I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

    Evaluating QR Codes

Does anyone know of a web site where I can upload a QR code image and evaluate it for malware? I know Virustotal can accept files, URLs, or hashes, but I would like to be able to analyze a QR code for legitimacy.

    False Positive/Negative in biometrics

I like that analogy, thanks. I'm going to add it to my lecture, if you don't mind. I'd still like CompTIA to add those terms to the book so the students can at least see those terms associated with biometrics.

    False Positive/Negative in biometrics

Yeah, that's all good. But I think I'm just going to send a request to CompTIA to add those terms to the book for that particular section.

    False Positive/Negative in biometrics

I am using the official CompTIA Sec+ SY0-601 Student Guide. But I guess maybe I haven't been clear on my question/responses or maybe I'm not explaining the situation correctly. I understand what those terms are, what they mean, and that the information is out there on the internet and in many...

    False Positive/Negative in biometrics

Thank you all for your replies. I do understand the definitions and how they should be used. My concern is that there isn't anywhere in the book that makes the correlation between FAR and False Positive, and FRR and False Negative. So the student was confused as to why a False Positive would...

    False Positive/Negative in biometrics

Had a student miss a question today based upon information that does not appear in the SG or slides. It has to do with False Positive being synonymous with False Acceptance Rate. And while the definition (someone's biometric matching with the wrong person and possibly giving them unauthorized...

    Question about backups

Ok, so then since it is only looking at the bit (which I understand), then in theory if you do a full backup, then a bunch of incrementals, followed by a differential, you might be missing files on that differential that were backed up by the incrementals when they flipped off the bit. That is...

    Question about backups

Here is the question of the day. It's dealing with different types of backups. First, let's start with what we know. - A Full backup backs up the files, then resets the archive bits to off so that it knows they've been backed up. - An Incremental backup backs up the files with the archive bit...

    CASP+ Curriculum

Thank you everyone. Some reallynawesome responses. We have a cyber academy at UMBC training centers that I designed with basic CompTIA courses and several home grown courses culminating in a capstone.

    CASP+ Curriculum

just a question I got from a student planning on taking the course. I don’t have the cert yet, so I don’t know if it’s like the other CompTIA courses where it is lecture and labs. I know there is a question on the cert test where there is a VM, but they seemed to think there was a graded...

    CASP+ Curriculum

Quick question for folks about CASP+. Is there a capstone as part of the actual course?

Skipping and/or reviewing questions on the certification exam

By the way, congrats on passing CASP+

Skipping and/or reviewing questions on the certification exam

Yeah, I've written questions before and I also have the same mindset about the PBQ questions. I know that CompTIA doesn't like us to tell students to come back to the PBQs at the end and get through all the MC questions first, but I tell my students that it's better to answer as many of the MC...

Skipping and/or reviewing questions on the certification exam

Did something recently change? I had some of my students today tell me that they were advised that they could not return to questions once they had skipped them and would not be able to go back and review flagged questions. First heard here, just trying to get to the ground truth.
