I never...ever...would take a test at home after the fiasco I went through with an online proctor for an AWS exam years ago. It was a damn nightmare. Ever since I have been going to test centers in person. It has been a breeze. I will never do one online unless absolutely forced.

Exactly correct! I spend SO MANY YEARS when I first got into IT in 2007 playing certification Pac-Man only to realize that it was absolutely a waste of my time. I'm horrified how many VMware Certifications I focused on and the platform is mostly dead now.

Unless your going to get paid for it. I wouldn't recommend doing certifications "just because". If there is a company hiring a certain skill or your doing consulting and their required for a certain job. Ok, but just getting certs for the sake of it. It's a waste of money and time...time being...

That's exactly why I said putting the exam center testing location on the Certification Certificate and verification is the cure. Trying to play "we'll find you" will do nothing.
