CA1-005: CompTIA SecurityX Certification Beta Exam

I just found out that I passed the CASP+ / SecurityX beta. How did I find out? Not via email. I logged into the CompTIA test portal and, from the test taker dashboard, went to exam history. It shows pass or fail, as the CASP+ exam never had a score.

A Trip Down Instructor Memory Lane

The stories I could tell about the 1980s and 90s Novell Certified Netware Instructor (CNI) program! If you were a CNI, you had a 'batting average' based on the surveys that students completed at the end of a class. Those students always completed those surveys because if they didn't, they...

    Dark Web Visit

I agree with Rick. I stopped looking at the Dark Web and now just allocate that time to looking at Instagram and X. Yet another sewer.

Use of VPN when using Windows

Great question Tess. I think Professor Chandler is trying to highlight how much confidence in vendor implementations and trust profiles. If you don't use a VPN from a Win PC on a trusted network to the Internet versus using a VPN from that same Win PC from a local coffee shop to the Internet...

Use of VPN when using Windows

I disagree with your opinion about choice of OS. Each OS can implement different protocols and solutions differently. That's where I think Professor Chandler was going. By using a VPN all the time you add another layer of protection to your data. So, if you are using, say, MS Teams or...

Isn't GIAC part of or a spin off of SANS?

I heard this too but truth be told I was standing next to Rick at the time.

I'm thinking that they'll drop the + and move to the ~ or the #. Better for lefties.

    CompTIA Restructure

Yeah. Look what it did to OpenAI. It was a not-for-profit and everyone was happy. And then... Those folks are now just scraping along. Currently valued at only 157 billion?

    On steering students' learning

In Reddit terms, I'd say you're NTA. That forum is (unfortunately) full of people looking for a shortcut. In my opinion, you are exactly right when you point at the exam objectives and how the topics are weighted and say, 'Look, there it is!'. Your B is looking for you to disclose something...

    Cyber Threats

I started this Monday ritual a couple of years ago. If there is a Monday holiday, it shifts to Tuesday morning. The first thing I do is check for any updates to the software I use on my business systems. That's Windows 10 and 11 Pro AND a list of applications that I rely on. I also check my...

Seeking CIN Interest in Supporting Underserviced Communities

You said: " leveraging CompTIA's courseware and certifications as a central part of the curriculum.". Has anyone at CompTIA agreed to participate in order to leverage CompTIA'a courseware? Does this initiative have a name? Is this initiative a not-for-profit?

    CE Maintenance Fees

Jeff, From the Certmetrics site "If you hold an A+, Security+, Linux+, Pen Test+ and or CySA+ and you plan to renew fully with a higher level CompTIA certification then your CE fees will be waived.". I hold Sec+, CySA+, Linux+, Cloud+, and Data+ AND CASP+. I pay $50 for CASP+. That's all...

Creating Engaging In-Classroom Labs for Demonstration

At the Partner Conference, Master Instructor @Lee McWhorter spoke about this when he delivered his Network+ update. I was a Network Academy instructor, so I know that in those institutions, there is often access to a lab for instructor demos and student learning. As an instructor, I think the...

    Certmaster Network+ N10-009 missing content

Do you know of any current network protocols that support a ring topology? Have you encountered any token ring lately? Do you know of any networking protocols that specifically support a bus topology? I think bus topology is covered in the current A+. I completely agree with your point about...

With CompTIA rebranding CASP+ & ITF, will they also rebrand A+?

@Dan Regarding name changes: Why change something that works well? I don't think A+ has any real competition. So why change the name? @precious I'm not sure I agree with your statement "CompTIA didn't rename CASP+ to CompTIA Security X. ". I think the title 'CASP+' needed to be...
