    Complementary Cloud+ Voucher

I decided to give the CEU route a go (never went that way previously), this time for Cloud, since I had taken the SC900 and MS900 exams for Microsoft. That gave me all the credit I needed for that Intention level - which means I can take a bit more time with DataSys+ and take the new SecurityX...

    So...Network+ I thought there wouldn't be a book...

Well, Security+ is still out there as is other certs from before the LabSim days. To clarify, basically all NEW certs, beginning with Net+ 009 were going to be without a book. But again, it appears that changed. Personally, I do not disagree with the change - I think CompTIA should continue...

    Private Cloud Coverage

Private Clouds...now has anyone had the opportunity to build one? I did a Harvester HCI environment a couple years back...never really put it to use - mostly because I got busy with other projects, but it was a fun little time waster. LOL

Happy Holidays!! What Are Your Traditions?

Well, as my family is basically in transition - kids are all adults now, our traditions are changing. We make cookies or pumpkin bread for our neighbors. The church on the 24th part of our candlelight service and is now becoming somewhat of a tradition for me, I end up preaching Sunday after...

    Password Change Requirement

I seem to remember she took away your Man-Card over it. But you can remember it how you like. I do have photos and receipts...so... When we did Summit in Chi-Town, I remember it was an hour just to go back and forth from O'Hare to the airport. In fact, the last night I was there, I stayed in...

    Firefox Processes Launching

It's my "Fedora-approved" solution - I'm not much a fan for Firefox, I'm afraid, so I thought I'd do Trevor a solid and spare him the pain. Yeahhhh.,..that's the point. Well, okay then - I think someone mentioned that if you go into the Startup Apps area within Task Manager, you can look in...

    Password Change Requirement

Well, if that doesn't help, you can always take a little trip back out to Las Vegas, maybe reconnect with Laurie while saving the need to action off your machine-guessable password for about the cost of an Uber in Chicago. But let this song that I crafted on Suno.ai serve though...there are...

    So...Network+ I thought there wouldn't be a book...

Well, I don't think the sale has been done yet...but books don't come around that fast, so one might wonder. I'm not sure if it's a communications failure - my guess is that perhaps CompTIA walked that bit back? One concern I did hear during the Summit was about getting access to training...

    So...Network+ I thought there wouldn't be a book...

And I was told over and over at Summit that CertMaster Perform was going to be the de facto text, rather than a study guide/printed book - that there wouldn't be a book. I was even asked, directly, "why would you even want a book, etc etc" And then, one of our curriculum folks sent this to me...

    The Consequences of Being Stubborn

That is the very wonderful thing about an idea. But sometimes, many great ideas die on the vine because there simply are not enough people out there who are willing to support them. Many times, an idea has to find its way. At the right place, at the right time, and with the right folks. And...

    Encrypting Hard Drives

Before you celebrate, note that Windows 11 24H2 is turning on BitLocker by default. Now, you might want to be careful with that because if you happen to lose your key, and you're not in a managed environment, an encrypted hard drive means you've just lost all of your data, unless you're...

Phishing - The Top Attack Vector

Perhaps - if you want to enroll your home PC to the your college's Entra....not sure if your school, though, is using Defender... MSFT Defender has matured greatly as a anti-badware platform. Even if you're just using Defender that comes stock with Windows, it's better, I would say, than...

MFA - Something Else to Consider

Microsoft has been really hard on passwords and SMS for MFA. And rightfully so, since it doesn't take much to bypass these things. What gets me is that people still can't figure out how to make Microsoft Authenticator work. I have to reset this so often in our Entra tenant for students.

Phishing - The Top Attack Vector

Yes. Defender P2 is licensed per staff user. Since we're an EDU, students are also covered, like they are under A3 licensing. A good solution for a college.
