    Core goals of information security

Anyone on the Red Team side of things would probably agree with me far more than you'd care to admit, Mr. Chandler. /r

    Happy Thanksgiving, CIN!

Well, if you show up for the CIN'er Dinner, that would be CompTIA. Other than that, we're all dutch. Unless you can sweet talk @Brian Ford or something... (but then, he's CompTIA too, so....) All roads lead to Rome. /r

    Happy Thanksgiving, CIN!

I don't think they can be found on the Dark Web....but if they do, then you have to ask...why are you on the Dark Web, anyway? As for bird's well, just be happy with the one that you're enjoying for Thanksgiving.

    DNS Attack Type

I did, and I do. SEM monitors for new domains with their FRESH, FRESH10/15/30 blocklists, as it is a tactic for spammers - as you well know. Those lists get auto-delisted after a few days. Some organizations are pretty aggressive with their anti-spam policies, even if you have SPF/DKIM/DMARC...

    Happy Thanksgiving, CIN!

Yes, it's slang. It's that state that many folks will reach in the next 24 hours, particularly with certain family members. Trevor, the CIN Motley Crew, as you know, is a highly selective group. If you're not sure you're in, then you probably aren't. I'd probably expect to know your status...

    DNS Attack Type

So, just yesterday, I spent some time standing up a brand new domain for our school. Not something we do every day, but how many of you are still running with scissors and not putting in those very necessary DMARC, DKIM, and SPF entries into your DNS zone file? It was funny though, I had...

    Happy Thanksgiving, CIN!

Yes, I know that there are a great number of non-US CIN'ers out here, and today is just another work day for y'all, but...to all of you here on the CompTIA Instructor Network in the US or elsewhere that are overloading on turkey and stuffing: Happy Thanksgiving! So, I'm going to do a thread...

Well, I have a BS in IT with a Networking concentration from the University of Phoenix and a Masters in Management of IT and Project Management from Colorado Technical. I am looking (once I can scrape the cash together) of going for the Cybersecurity Doctorate over at Dakota State. Never...

    Three Pillars of Cybersecurity

Well, what do you expect when you build a temple with just three pillars? Think Parthenon.

Please help me with A+ materials links, I have a class starting next week

So, you can go to the Train the Trainer sessions done by Allen Stubblefield a couple years back for A+ 220-1101 TTT and A+ 220-1102 TTT. In the resources area of the sessions, you can find some things to help you construct your own. I do not recommend using the TTT presentations themselves...

    Cybersecurity Terms

So to put it another way... The asset is the snacks on the snack table. The vulnerability is just how so very accessible they are, just sitting there in the open. The threat is when @Trevor Chandler comes by to take the snacks. The loss is when the rest of us don't get them. So how do we...

    Top Cyber Attacks in 2024???

Well, it's what I do. We get a lot of DDoS attacks so we have to use ongoing (and expensive) DDoS protection that lights up when we start getting beat on. Sadly, mitigation services become a cost of doing business.

    Top Cyber Attacks in 2024???

I'm going with DDoS. Those are the most common for me. /r

    On steering students' learning

I keep thinking I need to do that with the tests I take...but I never want to underestimate them...so I end up taking weeks to study, even going over topics I've read time and again.
