    LastPass Breach

The major issue I have with LastPass is the delay (from August 2022 to December 2022 ) in reporting the breach. In that December I spent hours changing the 300+ passwords for my accounts. Hence the decision to participate in the class action lawsuit as a named Plaintiff.

In the past I used LastPass, but see attached. I now use Bit Warden, based on Steve Gibson's recommendation (see TWIT's SecurityNow).

Old CASP+ certs will be rebranded SecurityX on December 17, 2024

Slowly, but surely, I'm being cut from the "certifications holder role", as a direct consequence of retirement (see email below). Oh well. Time to relax and smell the roses...... -------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Steven Linthicum, This is a reminder regarding...

    What's Going On With Tech+

In a discussion today with another instructor that centered on CompTIA's Tech+ certification, I went to the CompTIA.ORG site and ended up here: https://www.comptia.org/certifications/tech#examdetails The site indicates the following: Exam details coming soon. Note - Unexpired ITF+ certification...

AI Jesus Will Hear Your Confession

Stephen asked: "This brings back the original question we have heard for years. In the long run, will AI replace all of our jobs?" Speaking from the perspective of a "retired" worker, I'm safe since I don't have a job.

    Advanced degrees

I have a Juris Doctorate, and a BS in engineering. From an academic employment point of view, the doctorate certainly provided benefit on the College's salary schedule. The problem with laws is the speed for enactment is simply too slow to keep pace with the rapid changes in technology.

A Trip Down Instructor Memory Lane

Talk about the path of least resistance. A year ago, I faced dealing with that $125 certification maintenance fee for my CISSP certification. In checking with the (ISC)2, I found our that for a nominal one-time fee of $375, I could maintain the certification, add the word "Emeritus" to it, and...

    CompTIA Restructure

My sense is NHCLC, with its focus on physical "learning centers" located in cities across the Country saw a rapid decline in these physical centers. The Covid-19 pandemic probably dealt the final blow. I tried to find when my neighboring NHCLC closed (San Diego), but that information wasn't...

A Trip Down Instructor Memory Lane

Recent postings relating to changes at CompTIA had me thinking about the great days of the late '90s and early 2000s. I recall with fondness Microsoft's AATP program. Googling the program, I found a useful history of the program, well worth reading. Back in the good old days, many of us in the...

Admittedly the silence is deafening. This transaction, along with the decision by ACI to close its Gainesville video production center (the former ITPro.TV operation), and the recent shrinking of Leo Laporte's TWIT.TV operation to an attic studio in his Petaluma house has me wondering where...

H.I.G. Capital and Thoma Bravo to Acquire CompTIA Brand and Products

All of this reminds me just how lucky I am, having reached a point where I'm retired (from a monetary perspective), and my current involvement is in the form of serving as a "volunteer" instructor in situations where I see value in my participation. As to content authoring, given the limited...

Wow. Those were quality people. I actually worked with ITProTV in creating video content for the CyberPatriot program, back in 2016, as part of a grant I managed. Spent a week in Gainsville at their location and enjoyed the experience.
