    Security+ 601 vs 701 Break down

It is good that CompTIA is going out of their way to retain exam integrity. NDAs are only strong when all parties agree to honor them. Secrets have to remain secrets. Heck, even our Supreme Court had a leak back in 2022. Is CompTIA's security better than the Supreme Courts? Hopefully...yes. We...

Why is there a new version of Security+?

Maybe James Messer is using the Lindsay Lohan strategy of self-promotion. Good news. Bad news. Its all news, and helps bring in the $$. People will stop caring about the accuracy within a month.

Thank you Carnegie. Perhaps next year.

Focus Group and CIN Meetup at ACTE CareerTech Vision in Phoenix, AZ

This is the first time I've heard of ACTE CareerTech Vision. Their marketing must not be as strong as what we see for other conferences .

    Looking for Remote CompTIA Instructors (A+Core 1 & 2, Network + and Security +)

I have seen this time ambiguity with other posts. We surely are an international community  . I'd say...everyone posting gig opportunities here should initially disclose the time zones and the start/end times in those time zones.

    Common Types of Password Attacks

MFA does not have to involve looking at the phone. I use Twilio Authy and have the app running on both my phone and my desktop computer. If I am at my desktop and get the MFA prompt, I just switch to the Authy app on the desktop and view the code.

    CloudNetX draft objectives--thoughts?

Since they are putting an X at the end of the name, I think it will be the most advanced certification in that track .

This is excellent. Thank you Chandler for sharing.

    Changing email address/login...

What they should have done is: 1. Create a new email domain. 2. Create aliases for all mailboxes in the new domain. 3. For all users, make the alias email addresses the users' new primary. For example. Suppose you work for abc.com and they change their name to def.com. 1. All users access...

    Master Level Certifications and Training

I'd say they are trying to further leverage the word "Security." I agree...CompTIA will have a lot of work updating the CASP+ brand/requirement to SecurityX.

Why is there a new version of Security+?

The newness will come in the form of new certifications. For example, somebody may write a book on AI and try offering certifications on AI. It will be a completely new certification and revenue stream for whomever can publish current curriculum and exams. That of course will be the challenge...

Why is there a new version of Security+?

Three years is too aggressive IMO. I am training Security+ v6 and taking the Security+ v7 Train the Trainer. More than 80% of the content is the same.

Excellent, and well done, JLyon. I wish all test takers would mark the tougher questions and return to them at the end, time permitting.

    No title

Validating work experience is a tall order. Those of us who are self-employed can generate whatever title and work experience/duration we choose. CompTIA should stick with candidate honesty. Also, the underwriting process can become so aggressive that candidates take their $$ elsewhere.

Help- Filling out Virtual Submission Forms, and....

Seeing that the CTT is sunsetting this year, hiring managers will not view it as criteria when making the hiring decision. We're better off making 3-minute YouTube videos on cybersecurity concepts. May I suggest a) CIA triad, b) digital signatures and c) Nmap.

Help- Filling out Virtual Submission Forms, and....

Who is the entity asking for a 6 digit number? This may be the right answer to the wrong question, but...you can get your COMPTIA ID after successfully logging in at https://login.comptia.org/. You can also find it on a printed exam certificate. Mine starts with COMP then has 12 digits.
