Several Maine Adult Education programs are seeking qualified instructor(s) for their upcomingl Virtual Face to Face TechHire CompTIA A+ Certification training programs- grant funded position through 6/30/21

The TechHire CompTIA A+ Academy is a no cost training for eligible Maine youth (ages 17-29) who are no longer in high school. The training consists of knowledge and skill development in digital literacy and IT support: including hardware and software troubleshooting, operating systems, and communication and procedure. Completion of the training results in the approved in the IC3 Digital Literacy credential and CompTIA A+ certification and prepares youth for employment as a computer user support/specialist help desk technician. The hired instructor will lead the approximately 120 hr IC3/CompTIA A+ portion of the training using a videoconferencing tool such as Zoom that meets weekly at a set times. The instructor will also teach the CompTIA A+ curriculum on a schedule that embeds the Core 1001 exam at the half way point of the course and prepares students for Core 1002 at the end. Instructors will be part of a group of instructors teaching these virtual face to face cohorts and receive support.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Prior teaching or training experience, especially virtual/digital learning format
  • Ability to be highly organized, & detail oriented
  • Excellent persuasive communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, staff and faculty
  • High speed internet and a reliable computer with webcam/mic
  • A+ Certified is preferred (but not required- the appropriate candidate will have the opportunity to earn their A+ certification at no cost while teaching the course.)

While these programs are hosted by Maine Adult Education programs the positions are remote and candidates from across New England are encouraged to apply.
