And as fast I could post a query, precious has supplied the response - the CORRECT one at that!!!
IPsec exclusively uses UDP, instead of TCP, in order to enable IPSec packets to pass through
firewall. With this use of UDP, this would make IPSec tunnels faster than SSH tunnels - cause
we know that SSH's riding partner is TCP. However, as it sometimes the case, a benefit is
offset by a drawback. In the case of IPSec using UDP, there can be packets lost in transit.
