• CIN will be sunsetting the official CIN app! The app will be turned off on Saturday, August 1st. Thank you to everyone who used the app to post updates. It just was not adopted as much as hoped. This is ONLY the mobile app. The CIN community is not being affected. :)

Unused vouchers received

Good afternoon, CINers!

I would like to know if there is any issue with not using most of the certification exam vouchers we received for participating in the TTT training sessions. I am proud to be a CIN member, and if it were up to me, I would have a wide range of CompTIA certifications in my portfolio! Unfortunately, however, due to time and availability constraints, it is not possible to stay up-to-date with all the certifications that interest me, as I have other professional commitments that prevent me from dedicating myself fully to them.

Currently, I watch the broadcast recordings and download the presentations primarily to learn and stay current with the latest IT technologies - something CIN has uniquely enabled me to do (even without taking the certification exams). That said, I do intend to obtain the other certifications within my reach in the not-too-distant future (if possible).

Best regards,

Hello @Ednei P. de Melo, I am glad you value the CIN community and what we offer! This is exciting to hear! I understand the value of time and trying to utilize the vouchers! They will expire. Hopefully you will be able to utilize some before they do. There isn't an issue with letting them expire.

Thanks to @Stephen Schneiter and everyone else who replied. I took the Linux+ exam today (and passed). I plan to get other CompTIA certifications (especially AutoOps+ and Data+), but I need to keep an eye on the certifications I already hold that are about to expire (AWS Architect Associate, Cisco CCNA, and CyberOps). I’m even considering "combining" the CCNA Automation (which would automatically renew the other CCNAs I’ve already earned) with the CompTIA AutoOps+ (which shares many topics with Automation)—and perhaps even taking both certifications in the same week! I’ll keep you posted... &;-D

Hi @Mitch Garvis, I did reach out to Legal on this suggestion, and while it is a big grey area, as far as I can see, CompTIA does not condone gifting vouchers. Also, remember that voucher numbers are assigned to the recipient when they are sent out. It has happened in the past, that vouchers were found being resold and tracked down to vouchers that were awarded through a TTT series. When asked about it, the person who received the voucher for participating in the TTT commented they gifted the voucher and was not responsible.

If you have questions feel free to reach out to me or to your CompTIA representative about any unused voucher. If there are questions you can refer to the Voucher Terms and Conditions Statement from CompTIA.

Stephen there is no need to reach out to you any further. With regards to my career I stay out of grey areas. You say it's not condoned, I am not interested in either giving or receiving. Thanks for your quick response!

(I was actually asking completely theoretically... I have one voucher from you guys right now BUT I AM USING IT!)
