There is coverage under Exam Objective 2.4 (Large Language Models) and EO 2.6is all AI usage with threats and vulnerabilities. See the above link for the exam objectives.
There is a tentative preview launch date of around October 20, 2026 for Sec+ 801.

CompTIA exams have a combination of both PBQ (performance based questions) and multiple choice questions. By the number of questions, there are more multiple choice questions on the exam. This is the normal CompTIA exam format for exams with PBQ’s on them.
However, that should not be read or interpreted as multiple choice questions outweighing the performance based questions for scoring. The CompTIA exam scoring process is not publicly known.
I wish CompTIA would get rid of multiple choice questions or minimize them to less than 20 to put an end to these scammers and also to make the exam more real world. In the real world, your not going to be asked a question when your given a task. It will be researching the issue and then logging in and fixing it.
