I'm in the process of reviewing my CompTIA certs to make certain I have the required CEUs for renewal. i don't like to wait until the last minute. I typically get them done within the first year or two. CloudNetX has been a particular challenge.

    1. No other CompTIA certification gives full or partial credit for CEUs.
    2. No other non-CompTIA certifications gives full or partial credit for CEUs
    3. The only options are as follows:

    20 hours of webinars max
20 hours of conference attendance max
75 hours of attending training max
Retaking the newest version of the exam

By having the fewest renewal options, this makes the CloudNetX certification one of the most difficult ones to renew. DataAI has the same renewal options.

It was about the same thing for SecurityX. I attended and developed training, plus accounted for cyber work experience for my renewal. I think the X certs are probably going to all be that way. /r
SecurityX could be renewed with other non-CompTIA certs, like the CISSP and CISM. CloudNetX and DataAI didn't have options for this.

I will stay with the certifications I currently hold. I can renew from SecurityX down to A+, and from Cloud+ to Linux+. This time, I had the opportunity to create and teach college-level courses using the SecurityX material through our partnership with CompTIA. Through that alone, I earned 80 CEUs, so that certification is already taken care of. I had a similar experience with Cloud+. By developing and teaching the course, I earned 40 CEUs. I only need an additional 10 CEUs to complete the requirement, which I may obtain through training with ISACA. With this, I am effectively certified through 2030 once I pay the $150 in February of next year.

My question now is whether teaching a college course can be counted toward CEUs every year, or only once per three-year renewal cycle. If it can be applied annually, it would make it possible to maintain certification primarily through teaching. One of the advantages of our university partnership is that whenever an exam version is updated, I am responsible for obtaining the new content from CertMaster, updating the course accordingly, and then teaching it. This way is guaranteed that I will be teaching the most recent version all the time.
