I was asked a question, why does the Network + course have to be a week long course?

How long do take to train the Network + course? a week, two weeks?

What would your answer be when posed this question? why a week or longer? and would i show them my detailed plan for the training?

Theres another question in there, how do you plan for the week or forever long you train your course?

I always want to improve so some insight will be appreciated.

I think you should do an assessment with your potential audience, in terms of entry level knowledge. If they come from A+ training/certification it would work as a barometer and set the time.
If you follow CompTIA planner suggestion try to adjust to your audience. If you set for a week long course, try to stick to the plan.

I think, for the uninitiated, even with ITF and A+ behind them, a student will need between 80 and 120 hours of time to get to where they might be in a position to challenge the Net+ exam and pass it. A week long, 40hr course, in my view, is probably more "refresher" time. To go further, an average TTT session here in CIN is about 40-48 hrs of clock time and I definitely don't think it's enough to train someone who's completely fresh.

    I echo the posts above.

It doesn't have to be a week-long course. It can be a month or many months up to a year (if part of a tertiary course). Depends on your class (ability, knowledge, skill), as well as the delivery (how many hours per day or per week, the extent of laboratory, etc).

would i show them my detailed plan for the training?
Ideally, a training-needs analysis need to be conducted first, so you can tailor fit your delivery. Then you create a training plan and schedule which you then share with your client/organization.

if you are delivering a course where the intent is for certification, then look at the exam objectives and start planning from there.

    Hope this helps.

If someone meets the recommended prerequisites (CompTIA A+ Certification and at least 9 to 12 months of networking experience), then a 40-hour week is plenty of time to cover all the topics adequately. Will they have to study for the exam afterwards? Probably, unless they have photographic memory. But the content can be easily covered in that amount of time.
