    Three Pillars of Cybersecurity

Well, what do you expect when you build a temple with just three pillars? Think Parthenon.

You are right, sir. This is 100% Black Fedora original material. You have my permission to use it - for a 35% cut of all royalties.

Please help me with A+ materials links, I have a class starting next week

So, you can go to the Train the Trainer sessions done by Allen Stubblefield a couple years back for A+ 220-1101 TTT and A+ 220-1102 TTT. In the resources area of the sessions, you can find some things to help you construct your own. I do not recommend using the TTT presentations themselves...

    Cybersecurity Terms

So to put it another way... The asset is the snacks on the snack table. The vulnerability is just how so very accessible they are, just sitting there in the open. The threat is when @Trevor Chandler comes by to take the snacks. The loss is when the rest of us don't get them. So how do we...

    Top Cyber Attacks in 2024???

Well, it's what I do. We get a lot of DDoS attacks so we have to use ongoing (and expensive) DDoS protection that lights up when we start getting beat on. Sadly, mitigation services become a cost of doing business.

    Top Cyber Attacks in 2024???

I'm going with DDoS. Those are the most common for me. /r

    On steering students' learning

I keep thinking I need to do that with the tests I take...but I never want to underestimate them...so I end up taking weeks to study, even going over topics I've read time and again.

    On steering students' learning

This is too true. These are people that are chasing the certification for the dream of actually scoring a big job, without having the experience. Sadly, this is kinda preached, "get your cert, make bigger money", so it's no surprise that there are folks out there that dream that way. But it...

Use of VPN when using Windows

Why is that saddening? Anonymity is very important in cyberspace.

Use of VPN when using Windows

I don't use a VPN for most things, but there are times when I do, primarily if I need to appear elsewhere than where I am. ;) /r

    Dark Web Visit

I, myself, have zero interest in going out on the Dark Web, or even the Deep Web for that matter. I just can't reckon anything out there that I might want to see or acquire. Play in the sewer - you're going to get dirty, that's my take.

    CompTIA Restructure

The way I see it, we don't really *know* what's going to happen - a lot of conjecture arguments out there based on anecdotal information, steeped in a light coating of cynicism. We've all invested a lot of time and energy into this market so it's quite easy to feel a sense of fear and...

    Network+ and Security+ Capstone Projects

I used to use capstone projects for my Network+ classes back in the day - one of which involved setting up a campus network for a multi-building layout. For security+, I used to have small hacking challenges that would lead to students being able to take their final with the answer key - if...

H.I.G. Capital and Thoma Bravo to Acquire CompTIA Brand and Products

I'm pretty sure that the acquisition of the training arm of CompTIA would also have the benefit of additional funding. While the capital went one way, I'm sure that doesn't preclude any additional funding for training and certs. A concern though is that if there is MORE funding available now...

H.I.G. Capital and Thoma Bravo to Acquire CompTIA Brand and Products

I tend to agree with Greg here. CompTIA got its start as a neutral body, the Association of Better Computer Dealers, "a group of hardware and software vendors to encourage collaboration between vendors and their customers." Getting into certification in the early '90s, CompTIA's strength, I...
