    Why recertify?

Some training companies practically give away the classes just to keep clients happy. And the ones who have to suffer for it are the trainers, who are actually doing all the work. I finally set weekly minimums of what I would accept for an on-site class and a virtual class. Depending upon...

On your score report from the exam, it should list the topics where you missed one more more questions. I would start your studies there.

Fulfillments... Are we no longer fulfilled?

CompTIA was purchased by Thoma Bravo, a private equity firm. They have a rather significant portfolio. https://www.thomabravo.com/portfolio

Hybrid Server Pro CoreI Trainer Needed

They aren't certifications. They are "COMPCERTS," which can be achieved by answering the online questions that go along with the training.

    Why recertify?

Meh, I'm just old. If you do anything long enough, it should get easier. But I still have occasional pangs of imposter syndrome to this day. I've always been a voracious learner. Even in college, high school, and before that. I get bored if I'm not learning something new. My company just...

    Why recertify?

I've been a technical trainer for 25+ years. I've taken more than 16 different cert exams from CompTIA and re-certified in many of them two, three, four, five, or even six times. I've even re-certified in two CompTIA certs that were "good for life" certifications. Mostly, this was due to...

If You Had to Restart Security+, What Would You Do Differently?

I'm a big documentation guy. I can read through a 500-page book and go over the material again and again until I understand it and commit it to LONG-TERM MEMORY. When I study for a certification exam, passing the exam is not my ultimate goal. It's learning the material the exam covers because...

If You Had to Restart Security+, What Would You Do Differently?

I completely disagree. I have passed 14 different CompTIA certification exams, and recertified several times for many of them, without taking a single practice exam. I didn't have any practice exams for the CISSP, CISM, or CCSP either. If you read the exam objectives thoroughly and learn the...

If You Had to Restart Security+, What Would You Do Differently?

The best preparation for me was as follows: Studying and passing the A+ exams Studying and passing the Network+ exam Those two exams gave me the necessary foundation and vocabulary to prepare for the Security+ exam. Personally, I don't use practice exams. First, I've never seen an exam bank...

Inquiry About Becoming a CompTIA Instructor

Unfortunately, now that the CTT+ has been retired, there is no tech industry trainer certification that provides a train-the-trainer. MCT only requires documentation that you have taught. It doesn't require that you've gone through a TTT program.

Inquiry About Becoming a CompTIA Instructor

All you have to do to be a CompTIA instructor is pass a CompTIA certification exam and teach the course. That's it. Nothing else.

    DataX is renamed DataAI

Both certifications barely had any market penetration, and then they decided to rename both, making them less recognizable to recruiters. This is a very strange decision.

There has been no official date listed for Security+. SecAI+ goes live February 17, 2026. Both of those answers can be found on the CompTIA website.
