Certification Languages

Hi everyone!

I teach a variety of certifications like RHCSA, LPIC, AWS and would like to add CompTIA courses to my teaching skills. However, most of my students would also appreciate having the exam in their native language.

Does anyone know how we can support CompTIA in creating exams in different languages?

I am a native German speaker. I am also fluent in Japanese. This means I can provide some translations.

best regards,
Rene

Demand usually drives these things. If there is an uptick in the number of people calling for it, then I can see CompTIA investing the time and money into creating materials in different languages. I would say any language would effectively become its own project in terms of development - so the CertMaster materials, as well as the certification exams would probably be treated as a separate effort.

I can see the 'chicken and the egg' problem here - if CompTIA isn't developing in, say Polish, then we won't see a huge number of Polish folks taking the exam - notwithstanding how many countries around the world are teaching English at an early age anyway, lowering the demand for other languages.

I'm not sure if CompTIA would consult out translation work or if they hire those folks out with some deep NDA's...probably something very similar to the SME program.

Many CompTIA exams are offered in multiple languages. The very popular Network+ N10-009 is offered in
  • English
  • German
  • Japanese
  • Portuguese-Brazilian
  • Spanish-Modern
I hope this helps.

We also face this dilemma here in Brazil. Some educational institutions don't offer CompTIA courses precisely because they lack local language translations (at most, the "IT Essentials" course on the Netacad platform). In fact, wouldn't it be interesting to focus exam translations only on the most popular languages (English, Spanish, French, German, etc.) and promote support for unofficial translations of course materials? &;-D
