I hope someone can help me with a few questions: (Yes, I've already watched the how-to videos)

  1. If a student was in a previous Cloud+ class last semester, can I just assign their account to a new contract for Server+ class for this semester?
  2. I am the institution admin for the contracts, and also an instructor. Last semester our students purchased access from the academic marketplace they enrolled themselves (we had no seat licenses). I could manage and see their progress in the Boost dashboard everything was dandy. This semester we have a new instructor and have seat licenses available but only enough for one of their classes. I'm assuming the best way would be to make a group for the class with seat licenses and just upload the csv, the instructor would see the group in their Boost dashboard and easy-peasy. Correct?
  3. The other late start class will have to purchase their own access from the academic marketplace. Any ideas on what would be the most efficient and best way for me as an admin to manage their accounts? (The new instructor is not well-versed in the platform.)
Thank you!

P.S Congrats on TestOut! Now I don't have to choose!

Hey there, here are the answers to your questions above. Happy to discuss further as well!
1. Yes, this is exactly what you want/need to do. The Student will be visible in your Institution, but you would need to assign the contract that contains the specific certification CertMaster course each time a new class is taken.

2. Yes this is definitely one way to do it. The CSV upload function serves the exact same purpose as adding the Students individually, but will take much less time by uploading all at once. Also, as you eluded to above, the only way for an Instructor (referring to the platform role) to view the Students' progress is to be connected to them within a group. Lastly, you may not know this but you can also use the upload function for Existing students when assigning a NEW course (you would enter this function by selecting "New Students, Upload Multiple" option). Even though you are not technically adding the Students you can complete the course assignment through this function.

3. For this last one, I would lean toward the "Student Upload" version of this product when making the purchase. This gives you (The Admin) full control over the creation of the Student accounts, not relying on the Instructor or the Students to enter themselves into the platform (which is what the access key would do if purchased and redeemed). That would definitely be the best way for you to have the most control possible. Something to keep in mind too, you can always switch back and forth between Student Upload and Student Access Keys, this is simply the mechanism in how the Students are entered into the platform. Once in there the functionality with everything else is exactly the same.

I know this might be a lot of information but please don't hesitate to reach out with questions, and have a great weekend everyone!

Following. I also have students that do not appear in Boost and I'm wondering if we signed up the wrong way or purchased the wrong things.
Hi Chris, this is an easy fix if you need the Students re-connected to your Institution. If they are not linked currently, odds are they did not use your Institution Specific Redemption URL when registering, OR they were already in the platform. To fix this we would simply ask that you submit a request to our team to make sure those links are corrected (see link below). Any questions please ask

Awesome, Thanks so much; 1 & 2 are done! For a little clarification on number three are you saying that I should upload the students & put them in a group before they purchase access and then they will automagically be in the right place?

Hey there, as far as setting up Students ahead of time, you can only do this is you are on our Usage Based Billing model (I don't believe you have this). If you are purchasing licenses on the CompTIA Store, you would need to do that once the purchases are made and loaded into the system. The Student Upload version does give you more of an ability to do that, as you can control when Students are loaded into the system. With the Access Keys, until they actually redeem the keys, it is like the Student/Course does not yet exist. Groups specifically however, can be created at any time, and users added or removed at will (and you can add Instructors ahead of time as well). This could at least give you a placeholder for where you would like those Students to sit. Hopefully that helps but anything else please let us know
