New CompTIA web site launch

I went to the main CompTIA website today and was greeted with the following message:

We're excited to announce the launch of our new and improved website experience!
To prepare for this transition, this site will be temporarily unavailable on June 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM CST to 1:00 PM CST.

I'm lost on the new website. Looking for information about the SY0-701 Security+ exam. When did it go live? More importantly when will it potentially go dark (around 3 years after it goes live)? How many questions and how long do you have to complete the exam? That sort of info that was available on the old website.

701 launched Nov 2023 and 601 retired out, July 2024.

Looks like the info for the certification is here.

Rick, while your serving as a guide to the new website, can you explain what a "Continuing Education Token" is? I'm thinking it might be some sort of cripto-currency. Read about it at the bottom of the "Overview" tab for the Security+ site you sent me to....
Ahh... yes.

So in order to participate in the CE program to renew certs, as opposed to taking a test, you have to pay dues. That, I think you know about. My guess is that the tokens are a way to buy up a bunch of CE fees in order to pay them off in bulk and or spread them between CEs that you renew on - give them to your friends, etc etc? Hard to say.

Maybe I should put out the CE Tin Cup and folks can drop their dues in...lol

I did the CE program for the first time this year to renew the Cloud+, as I had taken tests from Microsoft that qualified. So I submitted those CEUs, paid my $150, and was good to go with Cloud+ for another three years.

I guess if you're not instructing, don't have access to an Authorized Partner, or don't take beta exams or something, CE is a more convenient program.

As for being the new website guide, it's the blind-leading-the-blind.

/r

Does anyone know about the academic store website? Has anyone been able to get access?
I was told today on a help call (June 4, 2025) that the academic store was removed, and students need to purchase through the normal store. At checkout, there will be a place for students to enter their student ID number to get the academic discount. However, this process has not yet been set up, or the help desk person I was speaking with did not fully understand the new process. There will be some sort of verification process to validate that the student is still active at the school. It would be great if CompTIA would release some type of information about this.

Hello Mike,

Thank you for the response. I also called help desk and they didn't have any information to provide regarding the academic store. I do wish CompTIA released some information for Academic Partners on a new process to order vouchers for students.
