Seeking Assessment Tools to Measure Baseline and Growth in IT Knowledge for Sophomores

Hello,

I am in the early years of teaching within a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program for Information Technology. This year, I am working with sophomore students, and I would like to establish a baseline of their technical knowledge at the beginning of the year and then measure their growth at the end.

Does CompTIA or TestOut provide any assessment tools, pre-tests, or related resources that could support this type of “before and after” measurement of student skills?

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Hello @jvolquezm and welcome to our community! There are some built-in assessments in the CompTIA Certmaster platform that can be used as a pre and post-assessment. While I am not in the classroom now, when I was I utilized the CompTIA CertMaster Practice tool. That is a customizable, standalone practice test tool used to help make sure you are ready to sit for the exam. It can be used as a pre-assessment as well. However, there have been a lot of changes to the CertMaster platform content, and I believe you will have some of these assessments already built into your curriculum. I would recommend having a conversation with your CompTIA Customer Success rep, who can demo some specific tools for you to see what would fit best with what you would like to do with your students.
