Um...I'm not sure I want to picture that one...in fact, I'm sure I probably don't - but it's not the worst one I've ever heard.

Thanks Rick great sessions
Thanks Steve! Appreciate ya there!

Sat for and PASSED Server+ SK0-005. The TTT covered all the major topics. I should have studied more and done better. A few infuriating questions that I would argue if I got wrong... must be why I will never know. Thanks again Rick B. for your time and effort and thank you Stephen S. for making it all possible for us.

Hello All!

I wanted to take a second and announce the winner of that Amazon Gift Card. (y'all thought I forgot, didn't ya?)

So, if you would, please congratulate @Mike Huisman. And I think he was also the one who won the Kahoot game as well. So @Stephen Schneiter is working on that card as we speak (but hopefully taking time off to spend with family!)

Once again, y'all, thank you all so much for coming out, supporting or heckling me during the training (all good on both). Definitely appreciate the CIN community and look forward to more great stuff as we move through this year!

I must have missed this post earlier! Don't worry about time, there's never a time I'm not wanting something from Amazon!

I passed the exam, but it wasn't a great experience. I'll just quote my blog, as that beats re-typing. :)

The exam crashed twice on the same PBQ (literally the very first question!), but the proctors were awesome about it.

In the first crash, not even the chat tool worked, so I powered down and not 1 minute later my phone rang. The proctor was very helpful in getting me back to my exam. The second time I went back to that broken question it hung again, but luckily chat was still working so the proctor reset my connection.

In short: the exam has solidified my opinion that the CompTIA PBQs work badly on MacOS systems. The OnVue software clearly puts stress on the system, because my fans were going wild nonstop.

Based on the Server+ exam contents (I did not read any of the books) this is not a course/exam I would recommend to anyone with over a year of data center experience. It would make a nice introduction to someone starting as DC tech or Unix/Windows admin.

It's been often said that Server+ is the addendum to the A+ if you work with servers. For the person who's been in the business for a while, it is pretty junior. Kinda like my experience taking the ITF+. What's funny about that is that I had to really resist the urge of overthinking the exam. There were questions on both the ITF+ and Server+ that I kept thinking, "Well, yes, but, only under certain conditions..." when the question was asking in a de facto kind of voice.

And you're right, the Server+ was designed for the basic administrator, which now, given the landscape of cloud technologies, Server+ is pitched more for the data center specialist or for someone who still has on-prem server resources.

After all, as I keep saying, "There is no cloud; it is just someone else's computer."

Congrats on your pass!
