You're welcome! 😊 Yes, Firefox is open-source, which means its code is publicly available for anyone to inspect, contribute to, or verify—great for transparency and trust.

As for tracker blocking, Firefox enables Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) by default. It blocks many types of trackers and third-party cookies right out of the box, so no extra steps are needed. If you want more control, you can customize it in the settings under Privacy & Security.

Other browsers are catching up with similar features. For instance, Brave is privacy-focused by design and blocks trackers by default too. Even Microsoft Edge and Safari have introduced tracker-blocking capabilities recently. But Firefox stands out because it's independent (not backed by ad companies) and fully customizable.

Glad I culd share some Firefox love!
Firefox and which browser do you like

There was a similar thread asking about browsers before

To which I answered:
... "something else" co'z it's really a mix of various browsers.
  • A+ requires familiarity of Internet Explorer, Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
  • Sec+, CySa+, Pentest+, CASP+ and Linux+ use Linux a lot, hence the browsers used are Firefox and/or Chromium.
    • where Windows VM is needed, then Edge, IE or Chrome is used.
  • Network+ can be taught on any major browsers, i.e. Chrome and Firefox.
  • In my review sessions, I use Brave.
yes, Brave is a browser. :p

Microsoft Edge is everywhere but it doesnt mean it is the prefered choice (sorry Microsofties). Much like with internet explorer. It is there from the start you install a windows OS, but after installation, majority of users would opt to install a different browser like Chrome or Firefox among others.

We keep Edge and IE, not because we like them, but because Windows will start to get buggy if we try to uninstall them (if at all that you get to remove them).

DuckDuckGo isn't actually ruining the browser party; rather, it's the eccentric visitor who is all about keeping things private. Browsers like Chrome and Firefox are what you use to navigate the internet. More akin to the amiable librarian who doesn't take notes on what you're reading, DuckDuckGo is a search engine. Wherever you value privacy, it fits!
I thought Mr. S was kidding when he posed the question about Duck-Duck-Go. So there really is something called Duck-Duck-Go, in the IT space?

Huh? I don't get it!!!!!
Your statement "I thought Mr. S was kidding when he posed the question about Duck-Duck-Go" - You have made me to reread that comment multiple times- I thought he intentionally misspelled "Duck-Duck-Go" just fond out the name has just - in betweet

the incognito mode you wish Google had-I meant to say that it's similar to browsing in stealth mode, but this time there are no restrictions. The "incognito" feature of Google is more akin to "we'll just hide the search history from you!"

I don't do the incognito feature with Google, so that will explain my ignorance about your comments.

So, what do I get from using this stealth mode? What is it shielding me from? I'm not understanding why this feature isn't broadcasted somewhere everyday - if it does provide some "real" security value!!!!

I don't do the incognito feature with Google- private tab while using Google search engine

As for why isn't broadcasted somewhere everyday—well, it's like the secret agent of the internet world. Privacy isn’t the flashy marketing trend, but if you value it, DuckDuckGo gets your back.

The advantage? It stops businesses from monitoring your every online activity and showing you advertisements based on your search patterns. You won't be followed by spooky advertisements, and your information is kept confidential. The reason it's not as popular isn't because it's not as valuable as targeted advertisements—privacy is a bit of a niche! For those who appreciate not being "followed" on the internet, it's a fantastic option.
