Anyone heading to Las Vegas for Def Con August 6-9? If so, let's connect! I will be hanging around the Noob Village (https://www.noobvillage.org/) with @GingerHacker. I will actually be giving a workshop around SecAI+ on Friday at 12:00pm.

Be sure to reach out if attending! CINners unite!!

Wish I could be there. Maybe one of these years, I'll get out for a DefCon.

Since we're talking conferences tho... any talk about getting Partner Summit back on the board?

No word. The new administration has heard how popular Partner Summit has been, so fingers crossed, it will get added back to the roadmap at some point.

Well, if they need to hear from the community at large, I'm pretty sure folks like me and others can raise the volume up to a level that would make R. Lee Ermey, Sam Kinison, or just about every metal band in existence proud.

Same here - I always have the desire to attend these conferences, but my schedule rarely makes it work out.
Probably a good thing, because I'm always busy troubleshooting some weird cloud issue anyways :)

That said, I wouldn't recommend DefCon. I've been before, and it just wasn't my scene.

    My completely unscientific breakdown:
--> 95% people cosplaying as hackers with tactical backpacks, blinky gadgets, stickers, patches, and enough conference swag to open a gift shop (all of which is carefully documented on social media through a bazillion self-promoting posts).
--> 5% salespeople trying to figure out whether you can approve a six-figure purchase order.

Buried somewhere in there are a handful of genuinely good (but not excellent) talks... mostly attended by people who are too busy taking selfies with lock picks to appreciate them.

A much better conference that attracts the professional crowd and focused on real-world cybersecurity is the SINET Innovation Summit in New York (October). (edited)

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the delay in posting an update! If you have never been to Def Con, be sure to add it to your list of conferences to attend. This is a great event for instructors, students and IT professionals to brush up on skills! There is so much to do at the event including networking, great talks, workshops and challenging competitions related to cybersecurity. You will learn a lot! Many of the areas and competitions even had learning challenges for kids to earn badges.

It is also a great place for CINners to connect. I got to meetup with Red Team member @Lee McWhorter and was able to hang out with @Hod Berman. I hope next year we can all meetup for CINners in Sin City!!
