It's about that time to look forward and look back!

    Exams passed in 2023...
    ITIL v4 Foundation
    Data+
    Linux+
CySA+ (sorta... sat the beta at the very end of December 2022 but didn't find out I'd passed until May 2023)

    Goals for 2024...
    Pentest+
    ISC2 SSCP
    ISC2 CCSP
    ISC2 CISSP

(Would also like to finish my BS degree and maybe move onto grad school. 😅)

May be returning to instructing in the classroom, at least part-time as well. Tutoring has kept me in the realm of instruction but I do kind of miss being in the classroom.

    How about y'all?

    Exams passed in 2023

    Fortinet Certified Fundamentals Cybersecurity
    Rapid7 InsightIDR Certified Specialist
    CertNexus Authorized Instructor

I have the CompTIA DataSys+ exam this month and may try to squeeze in one additional exam before New Year's Eve.

    Goals for 2024

Renewing any CompTIA certs that have new versions coming out
    CompTIA DataSys+
    CompTIA Linux+
    Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
    Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified Cloud Practitioner
Amazon Web Services (AWS) SysOps Administrator Associate
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security Specialist
    Google Cloud Digital Leader
    Google Cloud Engineer
    Google Cloud Security Engineer
    ISC2 Certified Cloud Security Professional
Cloud Security Alliance Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge

I probably won't finish the list, but at least I have something to shoot for.

While I'm understandably impressed with the efforts of those on the hampster wheel of certification attainment, I can tell you that I'm much happier in my retiree role which has reduced the importance of keeping up with the everchanging technological changes in this field. Exhaustion relating to keeping up with these changes may help to explain why jobs like Cybersecurity Analyst, IT Program Manager, Software Development Engineer, and Senior Data Analyst are on the list titled "The Top 15 Jobs People Most Want to Quit" ( https://www.cnbc.com/2023/12/14/the...t-to-quit-one-pays-144000-dollars-a-year.html ).

Great thread! I'm going to respond differently. In 2023 ...

    I taught 12 courses. Security+ and CySA+.
That was just under 200 students.
My student's 'I passed the exam' response rate was just under 20%.
I worked with 6 private training clients. Security+, CySA+, and CISSP.
100% of my private clients achieved their goals.
I attended CompTIA Channel/Partner-Con. It was fantastic.
I delivered the CertMaster Security+ TTT. A lot of work but great fun.

    In 2024...

I plan to achieve AWS Authorized Instructor status.
I'll work to be authorized to teach AWS Architect and Security courses.
I hope to teach 8 CompTIA Security+ and CySA+ classes virtually.
    I hope that I can teach 2 CASP+/SecurityX classes.
I hope that my student count will rise to over 250.
I hope that my student response rate will rise to at least 50%.
I plan to maintain the CompTIA, ISACA, and ISC2 certifications I currently hold.
I will take on no more than 6 private training clients.
I want to attend CompTIA Channel/Partner-Con. Wherever and whenever that is.
I want to go to a cybersecurity conference this year. In person. Not virtual.

    Happy holidays everyone!
