So their plan for increasing profit is entering an overly saturated market where a lot of the content is more mature? Or in some cases, absolutely free?

People use that same logic for buying lottery tickets, even though the math doesn't support it.
True for playing the lottery. But I think CompTIA sees an opportunity to secure business and profit. They see an opportunity to do business and they, perhaps, see a calculus that we don't see.
