Network + in 5 Days

The schedule of two week is for covering every item, lab, quiz, etc. in the classroom.

What I do is leave the quizzes and a majority of the labs for students to complete on their own. I pick several labs that I feel are critical for the exam based on my experience and knowledge of the exam itself (I take each new exam when it comes out to maintain my cert vice doing CEU’s).

There is course outline and planner available for instructors in the CertMaster resources. Download it and set it to the 5-Day option. It provides a timeline with section times of coverage etc.

One thing to note is that a Bootcamp course like what you are teaching requires the learner to basically walk in understanding all of the prerequisite material (A+ and Tech+ objectives) and having that recommended experience listed on the objectives. They really are not designed for a beginner in networking who is trying to just get started and doesn’t have that background experience and knowledge.

Make sure you explain this to your students so the know they have to put in effort and study. Yes they will have to read the material and not simply rely on you to read it all for them. Just my $0.02.

Hi Nick, thank you for taking your time to share your '2 cents', much appreciated. I will check the instructor resources as you suggested. Considering your advice, I might have to run two different classes: The 2 weeks for beginners and the one week bootcamp for the more experienced learners. Cheers Nick.
