Not sure how many of you saw this come in through Credly, but it appears that CompTIA is moving these two certifications to the CE model, along with all the others.

I know Server+ was on the fence for a while - whether it was going to remain or go away. Seems like it's here to stay for a while.

Project+, I can kind of see, since the PM world changes a fair bit - perhaps CompTIA thinks this would be a good move to put it in better position for industry recognition - although sadly, PMI will probably always remain the front runner for Project Management certifications within the general industry.

What does the CIN community think about this?

(yeah, I know I've been light on posts lately, but I'll try to do better at that - that is, if y'all missed the Black Fedora)

I got them both before the switch so I'm good for life.
I did as well, but I think the impetus is to downplay the GFL's in the industry - employers want evidence of current knowledge and experience - so with a certification, that means CEUs to maintain the cert. For CompTIA, well, a better revenue stream for certifications that have to be renewed regularly.

So for those that want to keep that prestige of being certified, well, it's going to be a constant grind.
Honestly, I'm surprised that CompTIA hasn't retired Sever+. It's really got a niche market, since so many things have moved to the cloud.
It does. My guess is that the angle now is for those who build infrastructure, either in traditional IT on-prem servers (for those non-cloud organizations) or private clouds for those who want to play cloud, but with their own hardware. I do believe it's been on the fence - so seeing a CE for it means that CompTIA felt it enough to continue promoting it.
