Missed the Official Launch Webinar today, but looked into the Exam Objectvies.
    1001:
1.4: need to talk about 2G/3G? in Germany / Europe these are not longer available by Providers
GPS is mentioned, but not Galileo, Glonass, Beidou und IRNSS ?They are for the Rest of the World

2.1: None Secure Protocols like Pop3s / IMAPs, LDAPs listed in the Ports Section
2.2: Still talk about HUBs? They are not used anymore.
2.4 Server Roles: Still none Database Role mentioned
Scada is listed unter Legacy / Embedded System. Usually that is a topic of its own
    2.6 No VxLAN mentioned
    3.1; No Cat 7 or Cat 8
IDE / SCSI are legacy interfaces. Should mentioned only as legacy Stuff.

    1002:
1.1: Nothing about Windows 11? Really? a+ will now run till 2025, which is the EoL sofar for Windows 10.
    4.1 Ticketing System is new.

I did not mention here the new Topics..

Why have i the Impression, that the Content is only getting more, but not reduced much?
Still way to much stuff for 10 Days.

Beside, that really important Stuff is missing?

Not Happy with the Updated Version.
    Just my 2c.

    2.2 - Hubs

Which hubs would be referring to that are no longer used?
It is listed in the new Exam Domains....
2.2 Compare and contrast common networking hardware.
    Hub

I haven`t used a hub like in Decades:
    1. they are not supporting 1 Gbit Ethernet.
    2. they are a security nightmare.
    3. they did often not Support Auto Sensing X-Over Cable.

Where have you used one in Production enviroments?
Or do i miss your Point?

I have not use any either in production.

10 days? I've had to teach the content for both exams in five days more times than I can count.

I agree with removing hubs and other legacy technologies. It just makes instructors sound like old people reminiscing about the "good old days."

I reckon you are referring to 1101 and 1102, not the (older) current exams of 1001 and 1002.
1.4 - re: 2G/3G, I agree with you. this would be nice to raise in the upcoming TTT session

    2.1 - secure protocols are in network+, security+ and cysa+.
    - for new technicians, i don't think we'd want them to memorize more ports than needed
    - after-all, A+ is for beginners.

2.2 - we talk hubs to compare and contrast it with Switch i.e. how good it is to have switch than a hub.
    - surprisingly, hubs are still used in many developing countries.
    - it is also good for students to understand where the term "hub and spoke" is coming from.
    - also good when discussing colission domains

    2.4 - database is in 1102 exam
    - SCADA is a legacy system, that is why it is marked as legacy system.
    - some still use it tho, hence it is in scope.

    2.6 - VxLAN is in network+
    - A+ is for beginners. They don't know how to configure VLANs, nor calculate subnets yet.

3.1 - I agree with you on this. but there's nothing stopping you to add these info with your class.
    - CAT 7 is in network+ exam. not sure if CAT 8 is already added.

    [1102]
1.1 - I agree with you, but at least there's no more Win7 and Win8.
    - majority are still using Win10 anyway.

4.1 - yeah. it is a welcome addition, if you ask me.
    - technicians really need to learn about ticketing, as many enterprises got/use one.

    Hi Greg,
10 Days is the normal, planned Time for both Courses, i have also teached them more often in 5 Days together, then in 10 Days..
But it solves not the Problem, to much stuff covered.. Old Stuff still there, important new Stuff not included.

    I.

Yes, i meant the new Courses.
If you always say: A+ is for beginners. The Content listed, does not reflect it.
You can`t always say: oh, we will cover that in N+ or Sec+ (already to much Stuff in A+, that imho belongs in N+)
We can talk about Hubs for 5 min. But i haven`t seen a store in Germany selling Hubs in the last 20 years i think.
Sure, 100 Mbit Switches are sold, but to you really buy one? Most People even are not happy with 1 Gb Networking..
Ports are important. Secure Ports even more. How should a technican know, that a client uses unsecure protocols, when he does not know the Secure ones.

Sure most people use W10 today and a lot in 2025. But still, a new technican should know about W11.
We had still Win8 in the Last Version, even it was eoL in 2018, when the 100x Versions where released.

We can always add Information, that is not in the Objectives. But already to much stuff in not enough time.

    Michael

Microsoft itself doesn't even have Windows11 in their certifications. ?
Their rationale? It is too recent. Same thing applies to CompTIA.
However, there's none stopping you from teaching it to your class.
I add it to my course material. You can do too.
I also let my students install windows server 2022 and other linux distros.
But then i remind them of what is only covered in the exam.

And yet you say, there's already too much in not enough time?
But didn't you say you wanted Win11 in the exam?

A+ is definitely not an intermediate cert. It is an entry-level cert.
Again, if there's a content that you reckon should be added to the material, there's none stopping you to teach it.
I love security, hence I also let my students know about the secure protocols particularly, SSH, HTTPS, RADIUS/ TACACS+ and SFTP/FTPS, plus SSL/TLS.
But do I focus on those for entry-level discussion? No. Co'z they don't even know the basics yet.

And yet you say, there's already too much in not enough time?
But didn't you say you wanted security protocols added too?

Think of the certs as a pathway. Not an end-all solution.
You start with A+. Learn the basic stuff. Then advance to net+, sec+ etc.

You speak of hubs as not being available in Germany for a number of years.
But is CompTIA only in Germany? No.
It is a global vendor-neutral certification.
There's still hubs in some other parts of the world and some countries even run on less than 100Mbps internet connection.
So, be grateful for what you have. Not all people enjoy fast internet.
    See link for reference: https://www.speedtest.net/global-index

And again, you say, there's already too much in not enough time.
and yet you wanted to add VxLAN, CAT 7 & 8, Galileo, Glonass, Beidou und IRNSS....

    Somewhere we needed the balance.
If there's a content you reckon is appropriate for your class to learn, teach it.
It adds value to your teaching.

Should it be added for all? uhmmm, then there's the need for balance.

    Just my two cents.
