Congratulations and thanks for sharing with us. What was the toughest topic on the exam for you, despite your experience ?

I can't particularly think of any topic that was particularly difficult. There was one that seemed to go deeper than the exam objectives about ISC/SCADA, but that's all I can recall.

I didn't use any study materials. Since this was a recertification, I just went in blind and took it. I only saw a few questions on topics that weren't already covered on the previous version of the exam. And I was surprised of the ease of 3 of the 4 PBQs.

One thing I did notice about the CASP+/SecurityX exams:

I took both the CAS-004 and CAS-005 and passed them both. And in both cases, the exams had a VM question. Also in both cases, I skipped the question entirely. In neither case did it make a difference in my passing. Either the question is unscored or it counts for very little. It seems like the question has low ROI if it can be skipped and not impact the results.

I've got DataX coming up in the next month. Time to work on that one.

I passed the SecurityX exam this morning. I passed the CAS-004 back in April 2022.

It's a challenging, comprehensive exam. I had 88 questions. 4 PBQs and 1 VM question.

They had a VM question in both the previous CAS-004 and the current CAS-005.

Well done! I found that exam to be the toughest CompTIA exam and was thrilled to pass it. I passed A+, N+, Sec+, PenTest+, CySA+, Data+, DataX, Cloud+, CISSP (passed after 100 questions). Remaining targets: Linux+, CloudNetX hopefully in 2026.

It really shows how deep experience makes a big difference.

You can always do GIAC certification, much more challenging . ISC2 / ISACA / ComTIA are very good but the GIAC training goes deeper
