Just passed my Linux+

Wow! I just passed my Linux+ test. I don't know why but I spend more time preparing for this exam when compared with my Pentest+ and CySA+, I was kind of intimidated by the fact that the vast majority of these questions you were not able to do an educated guess, you needed to know the commands. The best thing is that I got medium high 700's for the other tests and the Linux+ I got 822, still lower than my 885 on Security+ but damn, I was going in and out since February! This is a credential I make sure not to loose cause I don't want to take that test again!!!!!!!!!!!

Comptia tech+ still not available?

CompTIA is investing more in online resources for instructor teaching aids. I have been told that you can still get PDF instructor guides from CertMaster; however, they are hoping to discontinue this service in the future. I would recommend having a conversation with Customer Success Managers, as they can help provide information and note specific needs.

One tool that folks should look at is the Accessibility Document. It is listed in the Teaching Aid area under Reference. The accessibility guide is a PDF of all the course content, including questions, lab instructions, etc. ?

Thanks @Stephen Schneiter
I'll look for accessibility documents, moving forward.

Professional Development

Can anyone provide information on where to get past professional development training on the CompTIA’s website?
Hi @RodneyJackson, if you are talking about past TTT series, you may want to check out the Resources area here. If you are looking for another form of professional development, give me a little more info as to what you are looking for and we can see where to go.

  • Question
CertMaster Network+ Instructional Strategies Toolkit - instructional videos

Does anyone know if we are allowed to embed the instructional videos that are found in the Instructional Strategies Toolkit into our courses? According to the guide, "The following instructional videos are designed to support instruction of Module 1 concepts and may be used as an instructional resource for learners or as a primer for instructors."

I can't find a way to get at the source code for the video and these do not show up as a selection when creating LTI links to the material from within our LMS.

Have you received the Network+ voucher yet?

Hello @Redwaan Maxamed, if you attended the Network+ TTT series there is no need to sign up for the voucher. We provide vouchers to folks if:
  • attendees are members of CIN (posting here shows you are)
  • attendees are associated with a CompTIA training partner (either full-time or contract)
  • attended all the sessions either live or on-demand
I am still waiting on my voucher order to be fulfilled. I am hoping we can get them this week.
Thank you for the clear explanation

CompTIA is getting rid of PDF courseware? Say it isn't so!
My wife and I always say when something happens we don't like, that it is just called "progress". This situation kind of reminds me of that popular song from 1979/80 when MTV was coming onto the stage, Video Killed the Radio Star.

Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star
In my mind and in my car
We can't rewind, we've gone too far
Pictures came and broke your heart
Put the blame on VCR...

And THAT, is my Friday wisdom! ?

Yes, I agree! However, reminds me of the classic from
CompTIA is getting rid of PDF courseware? Say it isn't so!
The PDF can still be available for download, but from what I am hearing, CompTIA would like to move away from PDF with all digital content. Time will tell.

I'm not sure how CompTIA is going to address this - perhaps deferring that out to the publishers like Cengage and Pearson, which will probably continue to write text books for those environments that still want them.
Thanks @Rick Butler
This sounds like a good opportunity for book authorships. ;)

Typo in instructor guide

I hope not. I really like having an instructor and student guide, even in PDF format. Makes it easier to reference them for the students, and for me.
I brought these points up at Summit and that's definitely the case. I also enjoy having the PDF books, but I think that will just mean you'll have to find your textbook solution with one of the traditional publishers. It makes sense that CompTIA is going to put their content delivery through the platform, since that's effectively what LabSim was.

Comptia tech+ still not available?

@Stephen Schneiter and @Rick Butler - is there a material re: changes to the CompTIA course content, that moving forward there will be no offline access?

You should be able to get access to the content through the platform. I have reached out to the Customer Success Manager, Leon Cawsey [email protected], for your region and gave him situation. He will need your training org so he can match correctly. It was not in your CIN profile so I could not help him much. You should be receiving email from him.

Leon will be the best to answer your questions about PDFs. I agree with @Rick Butler, I do not think they are available.

Sorry, you are having to manage this with the honeymoon! But, I hope you are able to enjoy the time.
Thanks Stephen. I spoke to @Becky Mann about this during Summit. She really wanted to know why schools were insisting on having textbooks still. I can see that CompTIA would probably rather focus the effort into Certmaster Perform, but I think a lot of folks will wonder about this.

On the plus side, it will help the mainstream publishers like Cengage and Pearson when they produce textbooks, methinks. I think the offline component is a major concern for folks.
