CTT+ Part Two Help Needed

I passed Part one of the CTT+ certification exam before the last day ended. I still have until the end of October to submit my recordings for TK-202 and TK-203.

The issue is can anyone provide me a link to download the latest forms? Seems as if all I've been able to find have been the old one for TK-202.

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

CIN Sneak Peek Series: CompTIA CySA+ CS0-003

The next release for CompTIA CySA+ will be available in June of 2023. Join the CompTIA Instructor Network and special guest Hod Berman as he takes a Sneak Peek into changes with the new exam vs. the current version. We will discuss how to cover the content with students and suggest various labs to let students gain hands-on experience as they prepare for certification.

CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) is an IT workforce certification that applies behavioral analytics to networks and devices to prevent, detect and combat cybersecurity threats through continuous security monitoring.

As attackers have learned to evade traditional signature-based solutions, such as firewalls and anti-virus software, an analytics-based approach within the IT security industry is increasingly important for organizations. CompTIA CySA+ applies behavioral analytics to networks to improve the overall state of security through identifying and combating malware and advanced persistent threats (APTs), resulting in an enhanced threat visibility across a broad attack surface. It will validate an IT professional’s ability to proactively defend and continuously improve the security of an organization. CySA+ will verify the successful candidate has the knowledge and skills required to:

  • Leverage intelligence and threat detection techniques
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Identify and address vulnerabilities
  • Suggest preventative measures
  • Effectively respond to and recover from incidents

TTT Soap Box: Breaking the Ice!

Greetings Fellow Instructors!

In advance of the upcoming Security+ TTT series I wanted to ask the Instructor Community for their ideas, thoughts, and opinions about some of the tools of our instructional trade.

How do you 'break the ice' with the students in your classes?

What do you do as the instructor to tell the students about yourself and your experience?

How do you facilitate helping your students learn about others in the class?

As I teach virtual classes over Zoom and Webex I often use a start of course survey. I briefly introduce myself (please call me Brian; I'm your instructor; this is my email; and I'm in the eastern time zone) and ask then questions such as: their name (sometimes my registrar or Zoom/Webex inserts email addresses in class list); what they like to be called (nickname); where they are from (optional); and where they are in their journey (getting started or testing after last class). This isn't a mandatory survey and I get about a 75% response rate. I reach out to each student who doesn't respond within the first 2-3 days.

What do you do?

Brian

What is a good final score in CompTIA Learn for CySA+?

I just finished the final assessment in CompTIA Learn for CySA+, my score was 77%. In the Strengths and Weaknesses page, I am pretty much Proficient across the board, with one Expert and one Advanced.

Now, when I research a passing score on the CompTIA CySA+, it is listed as 750 on a scale of 100-900. I figure 750 is approximately 80% between 100 and 900, so it suggests a passing score is about 80%. Meaning I'm just shy of passing; on the other hand, it shows me a percentile of 86, which doesn't sound too bad.

So which is it? Am I barely passing, or doing pretty well? I kind of wish CompTIA Learn would use the same scale as the final exam so I had a better idea of where I stood!

CompTIA offers new technology skills-building courses via the Coursera platform

This just appeared in my mailbox from Steven Ostrowski at CompTIA..
Per the notification below -- "The two programs, CompTIA a+_ cyber and CompTIA a+_ network, are now available as Coursera Specialization Certificates. " . . . "The completion of each program prepares students to fast track their tech careers and have a head start training for the CompTIA Security+ certification or the CompTIA Network+ certification. Both globally recognized certifications prepare students for great-paying jobs in technology." Read the full email below.

"Learners can enhance knowledge of cybersecurity and networks, fast-track career options with CompTIA a+_ programs.

DOWNERS GROVE, ILL., Oct. 5, 2023 – CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the information technology (IT) industry and workforce, today released two new technology training programs available through Coursera, one of the world’s largest online learning platforms with more than 100 million learners globally.

The two programs, CompTIA a+_ cyber and CompTIA a+_ network, are now available as Coursera Specialization Certificates. The CompTIA A+ certification remains the global standard for entering technical support and help desk roles. The new CompTIA a+_ programs build on the global recognition of the CompTIA A+ certification and fast-track learners to pursue professional training in areas such as cybersecurity and networks.

“These new training programs are designed to help individuals expand their career options through gaining the digital skills and knowledge they need to succeed,” said Thomas Reilly, chief product officer at CompTIA. “We’re committed to delivering the foundational skills that industry requires as work continues to evolve.”

Each training program consists of three sections to help learners gain pre-professional technology skills. CompTIA a+_ cyber introduces learners to security support fundamentals in three sections that cover computers, networks, and applications. CompTIA a+_ network delivers foundational knowledge in three separate sections on network installation, network support, and application security support.

More than 9.4 million people work in technology-related jobs for either tech companies or other organizations that employ tech professionals, according to CompTIA research. The average annual salary of tech workers in the U.S. last year was $94,000. The median tech occupation wage is 125% higher than the median national wage in the U.S.

CompTIA’s new training programs can be accessed for free with a 7-day trial of Coursera Plus Subscription. After the free trial ends, users are charged the regular $49 monthly subscription fee by Coursera.
Users enrolled in the CompTIA programs have access to informative videos, interactive learning materials, and practice questions with extensive feedback. Each of the two new programs can be completed in approximately 20 hours.

No prior computer or network experience or prerequisites are needed to start the CompTIA a+_ cyber and CompTIA a+_ network training programs.

The completion of each program prepares students to fast track their tech careers and have a head start training for the CompTIA Security+ certification or the CompTIA Network+ certification. Both globally recognized certifications prepare students for great-paying jobs in technology.

RFP Assistance - Missing a couple of Presentation Planners

Hello! I'm a Program Manager for a training provider and CompTIA Partner and we are submitting a RFP, that of course is due tomorrow. The RFP requests some sample class schedules. We are basing them off the Presentation Planners that are in the Instructor Materials. Problem I can't access the instructor materials for Cloud Essentials+ or Linux+. (Yes I reached out to my Business Development Manager to get that fixed.) But, does anyone have the presentation planners for Cloud Essentials+ and Linux+? I don't need any other materials, only those planners. Thanks so much!

New Cloud+ TTT anytime soon?

Hello,

I have begun looking at Cloud+ since we're expanding our curriculum to include Cloud. I was wondering if there were any plans to offer the Cloud+ TTT anytime soon? Or is it possible to get access to the prior TTT sessions for Cloud+?

Thanks,

John McConnell
