Team, I sat and passed (updated my A+), 220-1102 last night! Great exam, @comptia ! From the perspective of the Help Desk, the exam hit its target. Customer service is extremely important and that was stressed on this exam. The questions were real-world and gets you thinking. Hmmm...how would I handle this situation if I was helping this customer?

For those of you that are ramping up for this exam, know your testing objectives and how to troubleshoot them. Keep one thing in mind, CompTIA assumes the tester knows the objectives. They are testing you on the application.

Keep objective 4.7 in mind. Great customer service results in positive outcomes. Review the security domain, as well. So many various security issues that your customers have

The Spring semester is history (grades in) and I'm scaling back from teaching, slipping into retirement. But as most of you know, I'm not very good at doing nothing. Below are the links for the first two articles in a series of articles that I think would ultimately lead to a series of labs that could benefit students and be completed on their SOHO wireless networks at a minimum cost (equipment is around $50) that will result in substantial savings on their electricity bill.

Because of the large amount of valuable data being collected in this home project, it provides the opportunity for students to gain a general understanding of why machine learning makes sense and how, through the development of relatively simple coding, to automatically decide on where and when to toggle smart plugs and switches. This will be the focus of my next article.

The 4th article will focus on security techniques associated with isolating this network of IOT devices from my standard home network equipment since it is reasonable to assume these $10 smart plugs and other IOT devices were not built with security as a primary concern.

What makes this series of labs additionally appealing is the potential for reduced energy bills and the ecological benefit associated with the reduction of energy consumption.

Retirement now provides the opportunity to focus on these sort of "geekish experiments" that provide practical solutions to real-world problems. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this idea.

I will be teaching using Cetmaster learn & labs for Cloud+ in the Fall. In preparation, I am working on my syllabus and am required to have grade weights posted. Is there a spreadsheet breakdown of scoring for PBQ, assisted/applied labs, practice questions, and final assessment?

We are working on an exciting new project and wanted to see if you or anyone you know are interested in being a pilot school again.

We are creating a website where students, teachers, and other adult champions can access free courseware and learn more about technology. There will be curricula that can be taught in schools and self-guided lessons for students. In addition, we will be building a career cluster section, where students can learn about technology careers in different industries.

Hi Everyone,

Just curious if anyone has a recording of a day 1 of 5 day delivery where they walk through the CertMaster Platform, show how to use it, tell the Learners how to use it, and then talk about the method they (as an Instructor) are going to use to deliver the course?

My thinking is that (depending on the size of the class) it would be like the first hour or less of the course.

I would love to get your feedback. Why on the Reddit for CompTIA is there so much negativity toward official learning resources? Why does everyone almost always recommend Dion and Messer? So many of us are trying to teach to students and I can't help wonder if I should be using different resources. I certainly understand the advantage of using multiple resources, but due to time and budgets, I can't have/use everything.
