Where is AI Essential's ?

With AI, we're just starting to tip into the Trough of Disillusionment in the Gartner Hype Cycle, so I wouldn't be surprised if it never sees market as a certification. There just isn't the content to support it. And in 5 years when ML features make their way into everyday software products, AI will likely have lost all of it's buzz.

  • Question
Are there any answers to such web server behavior?

I frequently use tools like ffuf to illustrate fuzzing to my students.

Using the following command, for instance:

bash
┌──(kali㉿localhost)-[~]└─$ffuf -w wordlist.txt -u http://mydomaintarget.org/FUZZ

Files like backup.sql, graphql.txt, config.json, and other possibly sensitive files may be discovered in this way.

To confirm their presence, we employ:
┌──(kali㉿localhost)-[~]└─$curl -I http://mydomaintarget.org/backup.sql on mydomaintarget.org

The server replies with an HTTP 200 status if the file is present. When we try to download the file, though: backup.sql using

bash
┌──(kali㉿localhost)-[~]└─$curl -o http://mydomaintarget.org/backup.sql on mydomaintarget.org

The output is a JavaScript obfuscated code rather than the anticipated content.
Are there any explainations to such behavior?

DNS Attack Type

So, just yesterday, I spent some time standing up a brand new domain for our school. Not something we do every day, but how many of you are still running with scissors and not putting in those very necessary DMARC, DKIM, and SPF entries into your DNS zone file?

It was funny though, I had only sent THREE emails on the freshly built domain and Spam Email Monkey already blacklisted my domain, just because it's new. Sheesh..a guy can't cut a break around here.

Anyway...that's my 2 cents.

Happy Thanksgiving, CIN!

Yes, I know that there are a great number of non-US CIN'ers out here, and today is just another work day for y'all, but...to all of you here on the CompTIA Instructor Network in the US or elsewhere that are overloading on turkey and stuffing:

Happy Thanksgiving!

So, I'm going to do a thread and see if anyone wants to jump in, etc etc...

1) So, I had a great time at the CompTIA Summit this year - I got to meet a lot of you (and see a few of you in various states of inebriation, but still...). Notable folks that I got to meet for the first time would be @Llewellyn, @JanetAZ, @Laurie Seeder @bnguyen , @Brandon G , @Dwight Watt , @Mol_lyC , @iamthewhiz @MelisParker, @Jagger Coffey @Tilley IT Training @Mark Anthony Germanos, @TraceyO , @NikkiH, @LynW, @Kwabena Fred and a number of other folks (of whom I couldn't find your CIN tag).

(yes, this was also a shameless plug to get some more folks to post on the board...since we haven't seen them in a hot minute...)

2) I'm thankful that I was able to meet some major deadlines at work. We're rolling Anthology for our college, having bought up two other smaller schools, and with all that stress, I wanted to say that I'm grateful for having good folks to work with. If any of you folks are also doing admin for Anthology Student in your schools, I want to talk with you. DM me, if you would.

3) I'm gratified that, despite my crazy schedule, I got through at least a couple of exams this year, namely MS900 and SC900 from Microsoft, as well as DataSys+ (upcoming perhaps in a week or so). In a lot of ways, it's you folks and others like you that keep me going when I could just stop. I think that's the best thing we have going here on CIN. And a lot of you just got your SecurityX, which is huge - I'll go after mine in 2025, after re-upping on Cloud+, and maybe another SC from MSFT. So many tests...

4) And yes, I'm thankful all of you - the "usual suspects" or the "CIN Motley Crew" (you know who you are). You guys are just one reason why I can't ever get work done - because I'm out here, mixing it up with you.

Anyway, for those that are celebrating the holiday, Happy Thanksgiving. And if you're not...well...we'll still save you a piece of pie ala mode if you drop by.

Cheers,

Rick

Where is AI Essential's ?

The official announcement was on the CompTIA site on this page.

CompTIA AI Essentials was scheduled for release, but that date has come and gone without any additional information being released.

My prediction is that the pending sale of CompTIA IP to H.I.G. Capital and Thoma Bravo will have a significant impact on all releases. New programs may be released as planned. They may go through modifications. They may be rescheduled. They may be canceled. No one knows, and everyone who might know is completely silent on the subject.

Advanced degrees

Well, I have a BS in IT with a Networking concentration from the University of Phoenix and a Masters in Management of IT and Project Management from Colorado Technical. I am looking (once I can scrape the cash together) of going for the Cybersecurity Doctorate over at Dakota State.

Never would have gathered that @Jill West and @Greg Childers would have gone the social work route, but there it is.

But if I decide to hang up my IT fedora, you'll probably find me in a church, as I'm doing a few things that might lead to an ordination...maybe.

Where is AI Essential's ?

You can check here https://www.diontraining.com/blogs/comptias-new-ai-essentials-course
You can also check this https://www.udemy.com/course/comptia-ai-essentials-fundamentals-for-businesstech-qas/
CompTIA has a web page for each certification that includes information such as launch date, number of questions, passing scores, etc.

The pages generally fall under this type of url:

https://www.comptia.org/certifications/a for A+

https://www.comptia.org/certifications/network for Network+

https://www.comptia.org/certifications/security for Security+

The AI cert info will be posted in https://www.comptia.org/certifications/ai when they get around to making that page. Right now, that url generates a 404 error. You can check it daily to see when it will be up or create a scraper to do that for you
Ok thank you!

N+ VOUCHER :

@Stephen Schneiter - Sorry to bother you, but from what I am seeing many people have already got the information regarding vouchers for the Network+ TTT. Is that process still ongoing? Since the process started in early September, it feels like I may have been missed. I appreciate that you are coordinating and providing all of these TTT sessions in quick succession, so if there is a better person to contact please let me know!
Making a last post regarding this. I have the certificates from all of the sessions, but still have not heard anything regarding a voucher.

Just Passed My Network+ N10-009 Certification

🌟 Certified Achievement Unlocked! 🌟 🎉 Proud to earn my CompTIA Certification

Congratulations
