Partner Summit 2024

If you haven't registered, jump in quick for early bird pricing! Long story incoming...

The early bird rate was supposed to end yesterday. I thought I had already registered, but decided to check and make sure I had done it. Turns out, I had not! And kicking myself that I missed the early bird pricing. But wait! As I was checking out, apparently the website had not been updated yet. So I got the lower rate anyway. Which was a really good thing, considering I'm paying for myself and my 16-year-old this time. He's sooo looking forward to his first techie conference!

CompTAI Partner Summit 2024 - Promocode

Hello all
I am excited to go to my first partner summit from The College of New Caledonia in Prince George BC, Canada.
We promote a lot of CompTIA certificated with the courses we deliver and our college won the Rising Star award in 2017.
I have my fight paid for the hotel booked and jut registering and was wondering if there is an early bird Promo code?
I look forward to meeting many of you face to face this July.
Thank you
~Ben Stewart

DataSys+

Yesterday, I passed the DataSys+ exam. I have lots of experience with SQL, MS SQL Server, and MS Access so a lot of it was review. It's a pretty good exam for people who are working with databases in a business context, as well as a technical role designing, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading databases. It touches on cloud-based databases, but I suspect that it will get much more coverage in the next version of the exam.

I didn't know where to post this topic since DataSys+ and the upcoming DataX do not have dedicated forums.

Application of credits for exam renewal

Hey guys!

A few weeks ago, I submitted the credits (50 CEUs) I received after achieving the Cisco CCNA CyberOps certification, to renew the CompTIA Security+ certification. In the section dedicated to Continuing Education of Certmetrics, credits have been applied (100%), but the expiration date remains the same: 3 years after obtaining Security+. Should I wait until it expires, so that it is automatically renewed, is that it? And once renewed, are the other certifications (A+ and Network+) also renewed?

Thanks for any clarification.

CS0-003 Lesson 1 Question 14 typo: "patchwork"

The Official CompTIA CySA+ (Exam CS0-003) Lesson 1 Question 14:

Inaccurate content: “A system administrator is performing patchwork on their organization's system. The administrator realizes the maintenance window will close before they complete the patchwork.”

Explanation: “Patchwork” means something made up of an incongruous variety of pieces or parts; hodgepodge.

Suggested correction: change “patchwork” to “patch work.”

It seems that errors in version1.0 of course materials are not corrected before the course is replaced three years later. Is this true?

Does anyone here know CompTIA's policies and procedures for correcting inaccurate course materials?

CySA+ CS0-003 prep warning - instructor manual missing slides from margin notes

Previous CompTIA instructor manuals had margin notes showing where each slide fits into the topics. For example, the Security+ SY0-701 instructor manual does a good job of listing almost every slide in the margin notes. In the CySA+ (CS0-003) instructor manual, starting with Lesson 6, the margin notes say “Show slide(s)”, but not when to show each slide. For example:

Lesson 6 has 20 content slides. Only 10 are noted in the instructor manual. Margin notes in this lesson are missing PPT slide numbers: 5,6,8,9,11,12,18,19,20,21

Lesson 7 has 20 content slides. Only 4 are noted in the instructor manual. Margin notes in this lesson are missing PPT slide numbers: 5,6,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,1516,17,18,20,21,22, and 23.

Lesson 8 has 31 content slides. Only 12 are noted in the instructor manual. Margin notes in this lesson are missing PPT slide numbers: 5,6,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,15,16,17,25,26, and 27.

If course materials aren't quality checked and fixed during development, this work has to be done by each instructor. I corrected these and other omissions in my copy of the manual. I would share my corrected manual with other instructors, however I don't think that is allowed.

CA1-005: CompTIA SecurityX Certification Beta Exam

PearsonVue has the CA1-005: CompTIA SecurityX Certification Beta Exam listed under "Other exams." When I attempted to register for it, it stated "Scheduling for this exam will begin in the future." Apparently, registration doesn't start until May 17, 2024.

My current CASP+ doesn't expire until 2028 because I used my CISM to renew it, so I don't need it right away. Plus, I'm an Adjunct Instructor for CompTIA so I can get a free voucher when the exam goes live. I'm posting this so that others can take advantage of the beta exam.

Lesson 5 practice questions for Security+ 701 in learn.comptia.org includes Cloud questions?

Hello,

During a Security+ 701 course week, students will try the learn.comptia.org practice questions for the 16 lessons we deliver for the 701 level exam. I have noticed that lesson 5 questions which are for the Network Architecture will have Cloud-related questions that were not discussed yet during lesson 5, Cloud topics are lesson 6 and should therefore appear for lesson 6 questions, not lesson 5, has anyone else noticed this?

Spanish Speaking Instructor and Spanish Learning Materials

Hi Everyone,

I think I know the answer to my second question, but just in case I am making incorrect assumptions, let me go ahead and ask: Are the CompTIA Security + Course Materials available in Spanish?

As for the first question, is there any Instructor on the Forum whose first language is Spanish? Trying to solve a challenge for a client in Equador.

Thanks Everyone!

Happy Friday.

DevOps Fundamentals Ideas for the new Domain 5 in the Version 004.

As mentioned in the Sneak Peek for the new version, (in case you missed it, you can watch the recording and download the slides)
DevOps (why not DevSecOps as now called),
and most of the participants said, they have not much expierence with the DevOps,
lets share Ideas, ressources how to teach it.

If you are training over weeks or months, spend plenty of time here, would be easier, as in teaching it in 5 days to non-dev people, who need to understand the basics.

are their free ressources available to the different tools, like
ELK,
Grafana,
git,
jenkins
and so one, that we can use or share?

Post it here, or upload it to the Ressources / Media Section in CIN and provide the link here.

Would be great to have some stuff for the Trainers going into the TTT then later this year..
