Request for feedback on CTT+ video recording

Hi Guys,

I recorded a portion of my actual class session today to submit it and hopefully pass the TK0-202 (classroom performance-based exam). You can watch it here: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AvC-mif_Iw336gwMlPnBfXmdeBzO?e=DYSI8k

I know many of you here are already CTT+ and I just wanted to get some feedback about my video. I want to know if this will suffice or if I need to record another one.

I'm hoping that you can help me out on this. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts. :)

Thank you in advance.

- Ivan Jude.

DATA+ - a new CompTIA certification

Came to my attention in my inbox today a splash of comptia cooking a new certification: DATA+
SQL and Python are among the disciplines in the exam objectives.Screenshot 2021-07-03 110144.jpg
Would comptia ever consider a programming fundamentals certification now that is so important for both cloud and cybersecurity (more on the latter )
What are your thoughts?

Change CIN profile / login email address

All,
How do I go about changing my profile / user login email address. Been looking through the account settings, can't find anywhere to do it. I'm not affiliated with the college and the college email address that I originally signed up with and would like to change it to my new college.
Thanks in advance!

Complete ITF+ Course In Canvas

I've packaged a course that is largely public domain (grant-funded), and with the exception of access to the Practice Labs virtual lab environment, free access to the content is available. All you need is to download the course export file (link below) and set up a free Canvas LMS teacher account, and you are good to go. This certification is foundational in nature and IMHO excellent for middle school and high school students as a starting point in this certification race track. The good news is students completing this course and certification will be well prepared for your A+, Network+, Security+, ...+ courses.

Network+ N10-007 Retirement

Sorry, I'm new here so I'm not sure if this has been addressed. I've seen a tentative release for the N10-008 Network+ Exam for August 2021. However, does anyone know if there will also be the usual 6 to 8 month overlap in Exam options before the N10-007 is completely retired and one can no longer sit for that one? Any input would be very helpful. Thank you.

CTT+ Technical Trainer or CTT+ Virtual Classroom Trainer?

I got the CTT+! ????

I'm a bit confused now:
I thought the cert would be called (as per comptia.org)
CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+)

As I took the 203(virtual class trainer).
my cert title is instead:
CompTIA CTT+ Virtual Classroom Trainer
If so, It is a bit deceiving - as comptia.org says that Candidates passing the exams (201 + 202) or (201+203), would acquire the CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+)

I can see an issue here - ambiguity -
Or can the 202 be taken as well after passing the 203?

Thank you.

Summary

The next release for CompTIA Cloud+ is here!
Join the CompTIA Instructor Network and special guest Glenn Hobbs as he takes us through the objectives of the new exam. We will discuss how to cover the content with students and suggest various labs to let students gain hands-on experience as they prepare for certification.
CompTIA Cloud+ validates the skills you need to maintain and optimize cloud infrastructure services.
  • Cloud+ covers the increased diversity of knowledge, skills and abilities required of system administrators to validate what is necessary to perform effectively in data center jobs.
  • CompTIA Cloud+ views cloud-based infrastructure services as an increasingly important piece of an organization’s IT systems.
  • It is the only vendor-neutral, performance-based certification covering more than a specific vendor or a single function — such as security or networking — to help you better realize the return on investment of cloud infrastructure services.

Security+ Course

Hi Y'all,

I am new to CIN. I have been asked to create and teach a Security+ course.
We will have access to the CompTIA resources. It will also be a class held in the evenings.

I have several questions:
How many class meeting times do you have for your course?
How long is your class meeting time?
Do you do a hybrid online/offline course?
And approximately how long did it take you to develop your course?

Thanks!

Microsoft Change of Heart - Windows....11?

This is an interesting find (link here). Does this mean that the "final version" of Windows won't be so final? Or is this the advent of a more defined SaaS delivery of Windows that we've been imagining?

This would probably be the most provocative evidence - a retirement date for Windows 10 Home and Pro.

Passed Server+ (SK0-005)

Team, this past weekend, I sat and passed the new Server+ exam. I feel the certification update addresses most-to-all situations in today’s Systems/Network Administrator job role. The exam nicely addressed installation, licensing, Windows/Linux administration, CIA Triad, and TROUBLESHOOTING. There is an emphasis on the environments of cloud and virtualization, as it should. A few things to remember:
  • If teaching, focus on the ‘Whys’ more than the “What.”
  • Demonstrate RAID and emphasis on the “A” in the CIA Triad.
  • Know Licensing.
  • Networking, as one of the sims, focuses on this.
  • Virtualization/Cloud (SSO).
  • Disaster Recovery.
  • Know your port #s.
  • DNS troubleshooting over a deep dive.
  • Clustering.
  • Server redundancy (NIC teaming, power distribution, load balancing).
  • Linux administration commands and command interpretation.
  • Company policies (MTTR, RPO, etc.).
  • Troubleshooting theory and methodology.
  • The CompTIA Server+ certification is considered good for life and does not need to be renewed.
With this certification, teach to the testing objectives, demo as much as possible. You cannot do Death by PowerPoint with this cert or any!

Connecting Professor Messer Security+ Videos with the Official CompTIA Instructor/Student Guide

In my effort to create structured learning content in a Canvas Learning Management System for a class this fall where I'm utilizing CompTIA's Official Student Guide and Labs for the Security+ (SY0-601), I'm planning to direct students to Professor Messer's videos that relate to this certification. In conjunction with this effort, I've developed a table (currently a work in progress) that identifies the videos, the exam objective (EO), and I'm going to work on tying the videos to their lesson location in the Guide. Appendix A in the Guide identifies items with their associated exam objective and ties the items to the specific lesson where they are discussed. For example, the term "dumpster diving" is tied to EO 1.1 and Lesson 4, Topic A (4A) in the Guide. Looking at the table, a video titled "dumpster diving" is listed as being tied also to EO 1.1. I will tie this video to 4A in the Guide.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this effort.

Steve

Objectives cross-reference for PT0-001 and 002

In case anybody's interested, I've completed a cross-reference of the PT0-001 and PT0-002 objectives.

The table shows which objectives were dropped, which were added, which were retained/moved. It's not 100% accurate, but good enough if you'd like to prepare for 002, with 001-books.

-> https://www.kilala.nl/index.php?id=2528

I mean, I know that we as trainers get a licensed document that does a better job at explaining the differences... but we can hardly share that, right? ;) This doc was made the hard way, literally cross-matching both objective documents. Hence why I may have made a few mistakes.

SY0-601 Certmaster Performance Based Questions

Hi All,

New here and first post. I have just been looking at the PBQ in Certmaster (20 of them) as something to offer to students to help better prepare them for the PBQ in the real exam. I have been shocked by the quality as it seems half the scenarios don't contain enough information to answer the questions posed. In addition the answers at times seem to be wrong. You cant change the login credentials for an Active Directory Security Group.

Has anyone else found the questions to be extremely poor? Can anyone suggest an alternative to Certmaster for examples of PBQ practice?

Many thanks

Jonathan
