Anonymizer

An anonymizer is a tool that makes it harder to trace a user's online activity, by hiding their identity.

How it works
- An anonymizer acts an intermediary between a user's device and the Internet, masking the user's IP address,
and other identifying information. This makes it appear as if the user is browser from a different location

Types of anonymizers
- Anonymizers can take the form of proxies, VPNs, or special networks like Tor. Each method offers different
levels of security.

Uses
- Anonymizers can be used for:
  • Bypassing geographic restrictions
  • Online privacy
  • Accessing blocked resources
  • Preserving anonymity

Limitations
- Not all anonymizers provide complete anonymity, and some may have limitations or security risks. Anonymization is not
foolproof, and there is always a risk that sensitive data could be re-identified or de-anonymized.

Anonymizer! The term is new to me in context of Cybersecurity. What about you?

Is this covered in any CompTIA course? If so, which one?

Printed courseware is gone, but what about the PDFs?

We know that CompTIA is no longer producing printed courseware, but what about the PDF Instructor Guides? I know they exist for some certs, but not for others. E-books are available when PDFs are not.

I can speak for myself and my students. E-books suck. They require network access. There is no way to access them offline. This is a HUGE mistake. People love having offline access. PDFs are easily searchable. E-books are not.

The content has also changed. I was teaching Cloud+ last week, and the PDF was missing the cover page, the legalese/publication information pages, and references to all the labs. There were no activities or labs listed in the PDF courseware at all. There is also no mapping document for which labs align with which lessons. Basically, the instructor is stuck telling students "Hey, there are labs. They don't really align with our lessons, but you should probably do them at some point." I have to assume that this is a cost-cutting decision, because it makes no valid sense to eliminate PDF courseware as an educational offering.

CompTIA Learn had Instructor guides, quizzes, assessments, PBQs, and videos. It looks like they're trying to do the bare minimum with the E-books and (loosely) associated labs. There are already a lot of other content providers in the marketplace. If CompTIA doesn't reverse the trend of lowering the bar and start raising the bar, competitors will start taking over the training space. CompTIA will still have the certifications, but students will go elsewhere for the training offerings.

Has anyone taught CySA+ CS0-003 within the last few months?

So the reason I ask is that I taught the class in November of 2024 and there were 14 modules/chapters and corresponding 14 PowerPoints. The were roughly 30+ labs. Someone in my organization posted a set of slides and there were only 12. Comparing Lesson 1 from the 14 group and 12 group, the latter had 25 slides while the former (older one relatively speaking had 32 slides)

I reached out to my associate to see where he downloaded the shorter versions from but I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else saw or experienced this weird discrepancy.

Lesson 12 - Understanding Application Vulnerability Assessment

Lesson 14 - Understanding Application Security and Attack Mitigation best Practices

Both versions represent the last lessons.

Thanks.

CompTIA Data+ Renewal

Hi everyone

Time has flown so fast and it's time to renew Data+ . I reminisced the post I made here in May 2022.

I'm not sure yet whether I'd be able to afford the $75 renewal fee, however, I received a DataX exam voucher for participating in the TTT. If I pass DataX, is it considered a higher level than Data+ and will my CEU fees be waived? I have already met the CEU points requirement by passing two non-CompTIA certifications.

Or what else can I do to have the CEU fees waived?

  • Question
How to keep CompTIA (A+, N+, & S+, CySA+) certifications active

I need help in keeping my CompTIA certifications active. They have been active for a while now. I know I must renew them before three years to keep them valid.

I believe the only way to keep them active is to pass CySA+ or Pentest+, according to the CompTIA website. Is that correct, or is there another way to renew my certifications? I have been doing a lot of research lately on this but still not having satisfactory answers.

I need the right procedure to get this done.

  • Question
Issue Watching On-Demand Courses - Session Ends Prematurely

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue while watching some on-demand courses. After about 1 or 2 minutes, the video ends and redirects me to a page stating that the event has already ended. However, when I paste the link again, it continues from where the video stopped.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

Thanks!

Overview of all CompTIA Exams with Release Date needed?

SecAI in Draft..

An A+ History question

Has A+ always been two exams? I first achieved A+ certification in 1998 and my exam codes were 220-002 and 220-003. I find it odd that that doesn't follow the *1 and *2 pattern that we're used to now and it makes me wonder if the original A+ was a single exam--maybe 220-001. (FWIW, it's apparently required two exams since 1996 at the latest.)

Anyone know for sure?

SecAI+: Have we discussed this yet?

I didn't see a forum for this cert yet, so posting here instead.

CompTIA has posted pre-draft objectives for a new cert: CompTIA SecAI+. Anyone seen these yet? Thoughts? I'm definitely interested and looking forward to this one.

Don't know how to respond to question in 7.4.9 Live Lab: Configure First Hop Redundancy

Regarding this section:
In the terminal, run arp -a and compare the output to the topology diagram.

Which of the IP addresses in the cache are router interfaces?
10.11.2.1
10.11.2.2
10.11.2.5
10.11.2.100
10.11.2.103
10.11.2.255

How do you respond to this question? I've checked the diagram and I can't find the logic... I don't have any clues on how to respond.

Anyone Using "a+ cyber?"

I got access to a course that was released last year "a+ cyber" that looks like a great review of material for refreshing students and supporting Security+, CYSA and PenTest+. It even has a unit devoted to scripting. I like what I see but I'm curious if anyone has any experience with the course and how it worked out for you.
