In case you need a lab for introducing microservices & Kubernetes in a Linux+ or Cloud+ course

Outside of academia, I kube the netes as an SRE for 2 different companies in Waterloo, Canada.
Kubernetes isn't easy to explore, so I did up a quick blog with something that students respond very well to (I have steps for both Windows & macOS hosts in there):

Question of the Week #1 - Answer

Hey everyone, thanks for humoring us and we look forward to bringing many more topics up for discussion within the CompTIA CIN Network. I want to reiterate that our goal with this forum is to create some great discussion, provide some valuable information, and have fun doing it! So, now onto the answer for our first Question of the Week!

Question: How, as an Instructor can I get FREE access to CertMaster Learn?

Answer: There are many ways to take advantage of gaining access to CompTIA's products and solutions so I will try capture as much information here as I can. One way is to reach out to your CompTIA BDM (if you are not sure who that is please let us know and we can point you in the right direction), they can start by sending evaluation copies of ANY of our products, and they can also walk you through a demo of each to showcase ALL of the great features. Also, some other ways to gain access would be by engaging in CompTIA's many webinar events and discussions forums (such as CIN). You can find more information at . Lastly, you can simply gain FREE access once your organization has adopted CompTIA products and solutions. Instructors will always receive free access within our CertMaster Learn, CertMaster Learn+Labs, and our CertMaster Practice platforms. If you have any questions, please reach out here or contact your CompTIA BDM. Have a great weekend everyone!

CertMaster Solutions Question of the Week Series

Hey everyone, we are excited to officially launch our Question of the Week series! Every Monday (aside from this week) we will be posting a new question around our CertMaster Suite of products. We want to hear from all of you, so please feel free to engage and share in conversation with us! EDIT: We will be posting the answers to these questions each Friday, so please send your responses or questions in the meantime!

To kick things off, our first question is:

How, as an Instructor do I get FREE access to CertMaster Learn?

  • Question
Cloud+ TTT Voucher?

I attended all the Cloud+ TTT sessions and downloaded my participation certificates, however, I have not received any voucher for the certification exam. This was my first TTT so I am not familiar with the process. Does it normally take this long or do I have to submit something else?
Thanks for any information!

Freelancer and becoming a CompTIA Training Partner

I don`t know, if you read the Registration for the upcoming Pentest TTT:

NEW in 2022! In order to qualify to receive an exam voucher as part of the CIN TTT series you will need to be an active CIN member and a CompTIA training partner. More details will be provided during Session 1 of the series.

Would like to know how to solve that before the Sessions starts.
Anyone done that as a Freelancer yet?

This will be a big change for the TTTs..

The Times They Are a-Changin'

Like many of you, I have been involved in technology since the early 1970s. I have taught at the college and university levels, and currently am an adjunct instructor. One of my major concerns has been the bias and racist terminology that still exists within our field. For example, current tech-based textbooks still refer to Master/Slave configurations, or allowing "good" websites by marking them in white lists, while barring "bad" website through black lists. There are many other examples found in our field. Many years ago I started to update my lectures and presentations to reflect inclusiveness by removing biased, racist, and negative concepts. I am interested in working with other instructors in updating how we present technology in today's world. Hopefully, we can also convince textbook publishers to update how they present technology.

Need some Advice

I am the Technology Teacher and Network Admin at Tri-City Christian Academy in North Carolina. I am trying to start teaching the ITF+ course at our school. Honestly, I don't even know where to start... Is there resources available that I can build out lesson plans with? Any help or guidance would be awesome!

Thank you,

Cole Haynes

Looking at what equipment would be best to stand up a lab to train for Network+, Security+ and Server+?

I'm mainly looking at teaching at an undergraduate level, with real hands on, in order to provide students the instruction they need to pass any/all of the certifications listed.

I've considered the following: https://www.certificationtrainingsolutions.com/product/ccna-security-standard-labkit/ even though it's listed as CCNA, think it could be used for Network+ and Security+.

Does anyone know of another company that sells similar products, maybe geared more towards CompTIA?

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Gary

Voucher Questions

These are probably pretty common questions about the vouchers so I'll try to make them as general as possible for everyone in the TTT sessions.
Under the new stipulations for receiving a voucher one is that we be involved with a CompTIA training partner or be an independent instructor - for those like myself who are unsure where we fall, who are BDM's to talk to to find out more information and meet this requirement?

At the end of the TTT sessions once the voucher requests are submitted, how long does it usually take to receive the vouchers? Is it a fairly quick turn around (few days to a week) for those who may be working on a deadline either for when they begin teaching a new course or are trying to pass the PenTest+ exam to renew their other certs?

-Thanks
