Passed Pentest+ this afternoon

It was a good exam, and very straightforward. The simulations were excellent.
I liked it more than CySA+ and CASP+ (although CASP+ was a lot of fun).

It definitely helps to do it right after teaching an ethical hacking course while the tools, process, and concepts are fresh in your mind. All I did was use the certification objectives as a knockdown list (Googling the odd thing I didn't recall).

But most importantly, I'm happy to say that I've now used every single voucher I got from the TTT sessions these past few years (and passed each exam too!). In my opinion, this is the biggest benefit for CIN members - I don't think I would have written as many of these exams otherwise, and it's important that our students see us write them - because if we write them, they will write them.

CompTIA A+ Class Materials (what to use?)

We will soon begin teaching A+ here at my college and offering it as credit courses and I am wondering what materials other A+ instructor use in class. Do you use a 3rd party? I would like to use the official Learn & Labs because I believe if your going to pass a certification exam the best place to learn the material is from the people making the exam.

If you do use the CompTIA materials, what do you include? Both Learn & Labs. Do you have students purchase the CertMaster Practice also? Do you find the CompTIA supplied slides sufficient?

If a 3rd party, who do you use?

Thank you in advance for any feedback/advice,

j

  • Question
Docker container training

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of any step-by-step labs or website training that teaches
what needs to be done to log into, start, and use a Docker container on a Linux
system?

It is easy to find explanations of how Docker works but so far I'm unable to
get any real training on doing it start to finish.

Thank you,
Mike

M.2 Crash

Hey all. I had my M.2 hard drive crash. I wanted to create a thread to talk M.2 if that is fine. Kinda two questions for the moment minus any other information you can post. Figured good chat for your classroom as well. Good thing for the cloud backup....Whaaaaaa.

1st - My M.2 ssd will power on but can't even detect it. I was getting a page_file error and suspected maybe OS corruption but the got the WHEA_Uncorrectable_Error and it failed. Is there a way to access the information still or is the Boot order totally gone maybe since it said "system type: ntfs" at the bottom. (Iam wondering if heat could have been a factor in this to since it was about my 3090 / I am using Speccy to monitor temperatures at the moment since I replaced it and everything seems fine until I play lots of games making the GPU go 75'C - 79'C which is still good for the GPU but maybe not added heat to the M.2 above) - Thoughts

2nd - Any good way to free back up used sectors that might have been blocked because I see that you will delete data but maybe it will only block it off instead. Idk if "TRIM operations" help with that. I figured only good to do that once in a blue moon since SSD don't like a lot of certain actions. I am also assuming it will just over write that data eventually if it needs the space.

Help with CM Learn vocabulary flashcards

I teach high school students through CertMaster Learn.

1. Is there any way to export the list of vocabulary for a particular lesson? For example, lesson 7A of 1102 has 49 words for my students to review and it would be nice to export them for another review game or quiz.
2. Can the vocabulary "list" be filtered? All mine does is return the entire list of 597 words.
3. Who can these ideas be submitted to as suggestions?
4. Are these vocab words available elsewhere?

Thanks.

Has anyone had an issue getting past the user info validation page when scheduling an exam?

While I've submitted a ticket for this, I thought I'd post it here in case someone else has had the same issue and there's a simple solution.

I booked the 220-1102 exam on Sunday. Everything on the site worked flawlessly.
Passed it Tuesday and now want to book 220-1101.

But today, when I log into login.comptia.org to schedule an exam, I'm first prompted to validate my personal details as usual, but I can't "Save Updates" to continue. I get a server error: "User information update with PearsonVue failed The remote server returned an unexpected response: (302) Found."

I've cleared my cache, tried different browsers, and verified that I wasn't missing a mandatory field - but nothing seemed to work.
Anyone seen this before?
