Webinar Alert: Technology is for Everyone CompTIA and RIT National Technical Institute for the Deaf - DeafTEC - Register to attend live or on-demand!

Hello CIN Community,

I would like to share that tomorrow we bring to you a very special webinar showcasing how careers in technology can be inclusive. We have an all-deaf panel of ITPros (and our interpreters) sharing more about a day in the life of an ITPro. This is great content to share in your classroom either live or on-demand. The Times They Are a-Changin'

Like many of you, I have been involved in technology since the early 1970s. I have taught at the college and university levels, and currently am an adjunct instructor. One of my major concerns has been the bias and racist terminology that still exists within our field. For example, current tech-based textbooks still refer to Master/Slave configurations, or allowing "good" websites by marking them in white lists, while barring "bad" website through black lists. There are many other examples found in our field. Many years ago I started to update my lectures and presentations to reflect inclusiveness by removing biased, racist, and negative concepts. I am interested in working with other instructors in updating how we present technology in today's world. Hopefully, we can also convince textbook publishers to update how they present technology.

New Network+ Exam N10-008

Team, I just sat and passed/renewed my Network+ exam. Excellent exam! It definitely hit on most-to-all networking objectives. I thought the simulation questions were realistic and painted a real-world environment picture.

Know the 'what' and 'why' of each testing objective. Keep at it! Keep studying!

Voucher Questions

These are probably pretty common questions about the vouchers so I'll try to make them as general as possible for everyone in the TTT sessions.
Under the new stipulations for receiving a voucher one is that we be involved with a CompTIA training partner or be an independent instructor - for those like myself who are unsure where we fall, who are BDM's to talk to to find out more information and meet this requirement?

At the end of the TTT sessions once the voucher requests are submitted, how long does it usually take to receive the vouchers? Is it a fairly quick turn around (few days to a week) for those who may be working on a deadline either for when they begin teaching a new course or are trying to pass the PenTest+ exam to renew their other certs?

-Thanks

Need some Advice

I am the Technology Teacher and Network Admin at Tri-City Christian Academy in North Carolina. I am trying to start teaching the ITF+ course at our school. Honestly, I don't even know where to start... Is there resources available that I can build out lesson plans with? Any help or guidance would be awesome!

Thank you,

Cole Haynes

Lee might call me a slacker, but...

...I still got back on, got caught up, and updated the Cyber Cache with links from last night's TTT.

What's the Cyber Cache? A collection of information, toys, and tools you can use in your classrooms or in the field.

The Black Fedora's Cyber Cache

Meanwhile, if you have something you think should go into the Cache, shoot it over to me via DM or reply here and I'll add it (and you'll get credit as a contributor). This is a great resource to have for Sec+, CySA+, PenTest+, and CASP+ folks.

In the meantime, make sure you jump in and get involved on the TTT.

Canvas Course for A+

Hi everyone,

I'm a high school teacher who started ITF+ this year. Our district uses CANVAS LMS, so I used Steve Linthicum's ITF+ Canvas course as a base to build out the course. I've been adding on so that meets the requirements of school and district. Its still a work in progress, but I am extremely thankful for having something to build upon so I didn't have to start from scratch.

Next year it looks like the district is stepping up to have me teach A+. Does anyone have a built out Canvas course for A+ they would recommend by linking to, or attaching here?

Thank you very much for any support you can give.

Can any one help or advise please?
