CongratulationsJust to show the Train the Trainer does a super job. Today I sat core 2 exam and passed 1 week after sitting core 1 exam. A big thank you to Stephen and TTT for all the training and support
Unless you have photographic memory, passing the new exam does absolutely nothing to prepare you to teach the updated exam to students. The exception is that if you are teaching students to master the material and pass the exam then you need to know about the current exam.
The exception is that if you are teaching students to master the material and pass the exam then you need to know about the current exam.My A+ and Network+ had expiration dates in 2028. This was due to my earning the CASP+ and then renewing it by passing the ISACA CISM.
I passed the fifth version of Network+, which extended my Net+ and A+ until 2031. My first Network+ certification was in 2005.
At this point, I don't really see the point of taking any of the certification exams again if I've already passed them. Especially if I've passed multiple versions already.
I didn't even study for the Net+ this time. Didn't even download the objectives. Just signed up and took it blind and passed easily. The exams don't change enough from one version to the next to justify constantly retaking them. Maybe 10%-15% changes, tops.
I'll just renew them with CEUs from now on because there is zero value to constantly retaking exams just because the version changes. They don't list the version number on the certificate. Just the date originally earned and the expiration date.
For the record, none of my clients require that I have the most current CISSP, CISM, CAPM, MS Azure, or any other certification. It makes no sense at all for me to retake any CompTIA exam that I've already passed before.
I've still got DataX and Linux+ left to pass, and then I'm done taking CompTIA exams.
The new CompTIA Data+ V2 (DA0-002) will launch in October 2025. Join the CompTIA Instructor Network and special guest @James Stanger and @Kwabena Fred as they take a Sneak Peek into changes with the new exam vs. the current version. We will discuss how to cover the content with students and suggest various labs to let students gain hands-on experience as they prepare for certification.

- Resume or CV
- List of current certifications and expiration dates
- Brief cover letter highlighting relevant teaching and cybersecurity experience
- At least one reference from a training or technical role
- Must be a US. Citizen and willing to travel
I'm seriously considering letting a few more lapse because of the time/cost commitment. My Data+ expires in less than 100 days unless I get the required CEUs. No one has ever asked me to teach it, so keeping it would just be for bragging rights.I think the more certs you have, the more plates you get to spin to have to keep them all current.
When did you get the voucher for A+ ?Just to show the Train the Trainer does a super job. Today I sat core 2 exam and passed 1 week after sitting core 1 exam. A big thank you to Stephen and TTT for all the training and supportWhen di
Ok, I will try but in case there is openings for some of us in AfricaLiving in WDC is preferred but not a requirement. There would be concern if the time zone difference was too great.
Yep, but you have to consider that there are multiple certification bodies as well. CompTIA, ISC2, ISACA, PMI, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Cisco, Peoplecert (ITIL), etc. And then the reporting requirements for each of the top level certs. And then the fees. It just all adds up - time and money. It's nice when one of my certs renews the other. But from an instructor perspective, I always take any test I teach anyways. Doesn't matter if it's the A+ or ITF+ / Tech+... I'm still going to go take the new version even if the stackable / higher-level cert renewed the lower level ones.Stackable are easy to renew. Like you renew CISM\CISSP \CCSP \ GIAC (some) \Comptia X series. GIAC is making it easier and less expensive to renew everything but I get your, its not easy.
