Labsim - CertMaster Perform

Point of note: for those who already have TestOut accounts and courses - the Network+ Certmaster Perform is likely included if Network+ has previously been one of your courses. I had an early sneak peek earlier this year when a few lessons became available. As an instructor who has used TestOut for 5+ years, my primary reason was the cloud-based simulations to use as support for my teaching; the learners could work on them anytime and redo them at will. I am delighted with the updated simulations in CertMaster Perform. Love the change of language from quiz to review. Well done on the Network+ update.

How long is our access to the new Net+?

Hi everyone,

I was in the process of signing up, and I wanted to figure out how much time I have to access the new materials given to us for access to the Network+ 009 materials from our TTT series. Is it 3 months from the day of our sign up, or 3 months from the first day of the start of the Network+ TTT series?

Thanks!

CompTIA Tech+

I am seeking your valued advice and insights regarding a matter related to teaching CompTIA courses.

As an experienced instructor who holds relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, PenTest+, and CySA+, I am wondering if it is necessary for me to obtain the CompTIA Tech+ certification to formally teach courses like CompTIA Security+, PenTest+, or CySA+.

DataSys+

Yesterday, I passed the DataSys+ exam. I have lots of experience with SQL, MS SQL Server, and MS Access so a lot of it was review. It's a pretty good exam for people who are working with databases in a business context, as well as a technical role designing, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading databases. It touches on cloud-based databases, but I suspect that it will get much more coverage in the next version of the exam.

I didn't know where to post this topic since DataSys+ and the upcoming DataX do not have dedicated forums.

If you are or know of a Lockbit Ransomware victim...

For all those Security+ or security interested instructors out there...

Law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe recently announced the seizure of data attributed to the Lockbit ransomware team. The seized data included thousands of references to the crypto keys generated to encrypt victims data. You can read about this disclosure from the FBI or read reporting by Ars Technica. If you were or know of a ransomware victim you can submit a form here (at ic3.gov) and receive assistance ranging from the key used to encrypt the data to technical assistance decrypting the data. This form does ask for information about the victim. I'm told that not all of the fields are required to be completed. If the victim has the original ransom demand message there is information included there that can be used to identify the decryption key. If that message isn't available an encrypted file can be submitted for analysis.

The Lockbit team is believed to be made up of residents of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Lockbit-based ransomware is a particularly interesting malware strain in that new versions were compiled so that different keys were used for different victims; and the original team created an 'associate program' where others could 'license' the Lockbit ransomware.

Question: SY0-701 Lab - Using Containers

Good day!

Need your input on the question from the SY0-701 Lab re: Using containers. The question is, "How do you enter a container session for 'MyContainer'"?

I understand that a container needs to be started first, before you exec it hence, docker start is the answer

1718496238749.png

However, there was no premise that was stated in the question, so many of the students thought that the answer is docker exec - based on the laboratory instructions.

1718496401740.png

Some may argue that the keyword at the end should be cmd however, powershell can actually be used in docker in real life scenario.

What do you think?

Also have a problem with the store?

I have a question. Does anyone have experience with how to get help from Comptia support regarding the store? I ordered Official CompTIA Student Guide eBook on Friday and still haven't received the codes. No emails are entitled to a response up to two working days. The training has started and the students have nothing to learn from.

Anyone else encountering 701 PPT missing information

I am delivering a 701 course and I have noticed periodically the PPT Instructor slides are missing some content information when compared to the student guide.

I have included one example but there are others, lesson 10 is the one example I included where the PowerPoint ends with a Wi-Fi reference but the student guide ends lesson 10 with Bluetooth and NFC which are not shown in the PowerPoint. I don't recall this being an issue with 601 slides missing content shown in the student guide for the same lesson.

CLI in Cloud+ objectives

In the new Cloud+ objectives (as posted on CompTIA's draft page a few weeks ago), under the IAM objective, there's an item for CLI spelled out as Common Language Infrastructure. While I know that's a real thing (in context of .NET), I can't see how it's directly related to IAM. Any thoughts? Or is this an error and it should actually be command line interface (which makes more sense to me)?

Thanks for CompTIA Network+ N10-009 Train-The-Trainer (TTT)

Finally, CompTIA Network+ N10-009 Train-The-Trainer (TTT) is here...

Join the CompTIA Instructor Network and special guest Don Tilley as he leads the Network+ TTT series using the CompTIA CertMaster Perform that includes Learning with Simulations, Exam Prep, and Live VM Labs.

CertMaster Perform is part of the release of the CompTIA Network+ CertMaster Curriculum, now available.

Don will cover the exam objectives and provide hands-on examples as you strengthen your computer networking skills. We will discuss how to cover the content with students and suggest various labs to let students gain hands-on experience as they prepare for certification.
The Network+ exam verifies you have the knowledge and skills required to:
  • Explain basic networking concepts
  • Understand routing technologies
  • Monitor and optimize networks to ensure business continuity.
  • Understand security concepts and network attacks
  • Explain the troubleshooting methodology and address common issues related to networking

So, a big thanks to CompTIA.

Pearson Disability Accommodation Problems

I am looking to find out how many people have students or themselves have problems with Pearson Vue and Accommodations issues. I am getting ready to draft a demand to PearonVue on this matter.

It seems to me that Pearson is violating the ADA on several levels.

PersonVue refuses to allow accommodation on the at-home testing platform PerasonVue Online Testing. This is a direct violation of the ADA under Title III. People with disabilities are barred from the PearonVue Online Testing platform. People with mobility disabilities are forced to go to a testing center, leave their homes, get rides to the testing centers, go to some testing centers that are not ADA compliant, then test in public. At the same time, people without disabilities are allowed to test anywhere.

"The ADA requires that any person offering examinations related to post-secondary education or profession “shall offer such examinations or courses in a place and manner accessible to persons with disabilities.” 42 U.S.C. § 12189. Regulations interpreting this section to impose an obligation on the entity offering such an examination that “ [t]he examination is selected and administered so as to best ensure that, when the examination is administered to an individual with a disability that impairs sensory, manual, or speaking skills, the examination results accurately reflect the individual's aptitude or achievement level or whatever other factor the examination purports to measure, rather than reflecting the individual‟s impaired sensory, manual, or speaking skills.” 28 C.F.R. § 36.309."

The ADA makes it unlawful to “coerce, intimidate, threaten, or interfere with any individual in the exercise or enjoyment of, or on account of his or her having exercised or enjoyed, any right granted or protected by this Act.” 42 U.S.C. § 12203.

The ADA requires that any person offering examinations related to post-secondary education or profession “shall offer such examinations or courses in a place and manner accessible to persons with disabilities.” 42 U.S.C. § 12189. As part of this duty to make an examination accessible, the regulations require that any documentation requested be “reasonable and limited to the need for the modification, accommodation, or auxiliary aid or service requested.” 28 C.F.R. § 36.309(b)(1)(iv).

CompTAI Partner Summit 2024 - Promocode

Hello all
I am excited to go to my first partner summit from The College of New Caledonia in Prince George BC, Canada.
We promote a lot of CompTIA certificated with the courses we deliver and our college won the Rising Star award in 2017.
I have my fight paid for the hotel booked and jut registering and was wondering if there is an early bird Promo code?
I look forward to meeting many of you face to face this July.
Thank you
~Ben Stewart
