BrianFord, As I have full time day job, I was not able to participate in the "live" sessions (I teach night classes). Thank you for the information, the whole series was presented very well, your modified presentation material provided thoughts for my version.

Error on lab 28?

On lab 28 in the new Security+ 701 CertMaster Labs, when trying to log onto the Windows VM with Jaime I receive the error message:

The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed.

When logging in with Ethernet set to the default of vLAN_SERVERS.

If I switch to a different Ethernet selection, I can log in but don’t have any network connection and can’t do the lab. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

I just submitted a ticket. I was wondering if anybody had a way around the error?

Thanks!

CloudNetX draft objectives--thoughts?

Looks like CompTIA has posted the first draft of the CloudNetX objectives. :happydance: :geek: In case you missed the link in the TTT the other day, here's where you can get drafts of exam objectives:

So what do you think of CloudNetX? Personally, I'm excited about it! I'm also wondering if it's enough of a jump beyond Cloud+. Thoughts?

Identity and Access Management (IAM): Agree or Disagree?????

I'm going to make some statements, and I would like for you
to simply indicate whether you AGREE or DISAGREE. If you
AGREE, keep it movin'. If you DISAGREE, share with me why,
if you don't mind. If you neither AGREE or DISAGREE, you
can indicate that you have no opinion (or none of my business :) )

Okay, here we go:

- To define Identity and Access Management, depends on the organization and its
tools. One size does not fit all.

- Identity and Access Management encapsulates how companies control user accounts,
passwords, and access levels.

- Identity and Access Management is a framework (I loathe the term framework)
that comprises several elements, that manage computer system identities

- The four components of an Identity and Access Management system are:
1) User management
2) Authentication
3) Authorization
4) Identity governance

- One of the reasons businesses use Identity and Access Management is because it
offers fine-grained control over users and access.

- Authentication and Authorization - are a couple of key concepts shared by all
Identity and Access Management systems.

- Authentication - focus is on how users can log on to an account

- Authorization - focus is on controlling which resources users can access
Note: Users gain authorization based on their role in the organization or their group

- Identity governance is a crucial component of Identity and Access Management
Note: Identity governance defines how an organization manages user roles
and permissions. Identity governance ensures that users have the
correct access level, and provides methods to audit user access levels.

- Identity and Access Management provides a centralized method for user access
control

- Regulatory compliance is a benefit of an Identity and Access Management system

- Identity and Access Management systems keep records readily available for auditing

- An LDAP server provides centralized user and password management. Is an LDAP
server an Identity and Access Management system?

- An Active Directory server provides centralized user and password management. Is
an Active Directory server an Identity and Access Management system?

Okay, that's it. Let me know what you think (or what you know)! Please, no inflammatory
remarks or comments - I'm sensitive :devilish:

[Lab error] Sec+ > Assisted Lab: Managing Password Security

Just wanted to share that there seems to be a problem with the lab re:
Assisted Lab: Managing Password Security

1. The instruction stated using the command "hyrda-wizard" when it should be "hydra-wizard"

2. In using the command, there's only 1 account that works with the password of "Pa$$w0rd"; only admin, not jaime
For that matter, the question in #11 need to be revisited.
Also, the step #12 need to be updated, as jaime username will not work with the said password; need to use admin.

Changing email address/login...

My company has changed its name, and as a result my email address has changed. When I attempt to edit my email address by clicking the "Change" button under "Account Details", I get a message that says changes were saved, but am offered no opportunity to actually edit the address. I am somewhat concerned that I will no longer receive notifications surrounding TTT sessions or other correspondence once my company mothballs the old email domain.

I have attempted to ask a number of the different Sysadmins on here, to no avail. Hoping posting here will make it more likely my request will be seen by the right person.

Thanks in advance!

Also still anxiously awaiting my DataSys+ voucher, but that's a different conversation!
