Need Help Accessing SecurityX 005 TTT Recording

Hi everyone,

I’m having some trouble accessing the SecurityX 005 TTT on-demand recording. I’ve looked around but haven’t been able to find it anywhere.

I’m also a new member here, so I’d really appreciate any guidance or support you can offer. Thanks in advance!

Security+ and Certified Ethical Hacker Content Overlap

Fortunately, there is some overlap as both discuss malware, network attacks, and security controls. But CEH turns it up a notch: Security+ teaches you how to lock your doors; CEH teaches you how to pick the locks (all in good fun!).

Kali comes back stronger than ever as well-more tools, more ‘here’s how the bad guys think’ content. Don’t worry about it too much - just make sure to warm up those Metasploit muscles early!"

Passed PT0-003 today

I appreciate the advice on how to approach the exam.
It was quite different from what I expected. I had 75 questions in total, 4 of which were PBQs. PBQs were in the very beginning, and they looked and felt totally different from those on CertMaster. Make sure you're confident with shell scripting and fundamental Linux commands like "find" and "sed." Read the questions carefully, twice. Don't overthink. Now, I'm sure I answered a couple of questions wrong because I changed my mind. Trust your gut. The good thing is that there is plenty of time. I finished with 40 minutes remaining on the timer. Good luck!
P.S. I always recommend taking the exams at the Testing Center. Calm and relaxed atmosphere, and you can concentrate on the exam and do not worry about the proctor behind the cameras.

Preparing for CompTIA Certification – Any Tips to Getting My Voucher?

I’d really appreciate it if you could also guide me on how to obtain the Tech+ voucher when it becomes available.
Thanks again for your support and for all the work you’re doing for the CIN community!
Hi @Abdelhamid, yes, I have been talking with your CompTIA Account Executive. Be sure to check here in the community as we will announce new TTT series here. I am also sending you a DM.

Security+ and Certified Ethical Hacker Content Overlap

There is definitely significant content overlap between CompTIA Security+ and EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), but it’s important to approach this situation carefully, especially when delivering training tied to a specific certification.

Before proceeding, I recommend conducting a needs assessment to clarify the training partner’s goals and understand why they want CEH training delivered. This will help align your content and delivery with their expectations.

Key Considerations:

1. Work Requirements & Certification Objectives

If the primary goal is certification preparation, it's essential to stick closely to the official CEH curriculum and exam objectives. While Security+ and CEH cover similar foundational topics—like network security, threats, and risk management—CEH dives deeper into hacking techniques, penetration testing tools, and methodologies. Mixing the two curricula can confuse learners and may hinder their success on the CEH exam.

2. Skill Development & Hands-On Labs

If the focus is more on practical skill-building rather than certification, there’s more flexibility. In this case, you can blend elements of Security+, CEH, PenTest+, or even Cisco CyberOps. I personally use this approach by providing students with pre-recorded materials and instructional content, then dedicating class time to labs and real-world scenarios. This works especially well in corporate or technical bootcamp settings.

3. Risk Reduction & Incident Response Training

When training is aimed at improving organizational security posture, such as for incident response preparedness, the content should be tailored to the specific roles, industries, and environments of the participants. This type of customized training may incorporate elements from various certifications, but with a strong focus on practical relevance.

In short, the curriculum should align with the intended outcome of the training. Certification-focused sessions require strict adherence to official objectives, while hands-on or tailored programs allow more room for blending and adaptation. A clear understanding of the client’s needs will guide the best approach.

hope this helps you

Security+ and Certified Ethical Hacker Content Overlap

Hi gang. I told an authorized training partner I can train Security+. They scheduled me to deliver Certified Ethical Hacker for a full week this upcoming November. They have not specified the curriculum yet. What content overlap can I expect with Security+ material in CEH?

EXAM TIP: NEVER GO TO EXAMS WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING EVERY SINGLE WORD ON EXAM OBJECTIVES

Have a hardcopy of exam objective and mark every single word in it after grasping it, with your pen tick against what has been grasped!
Thanks a lot for sharing this tip.
Really appreciate it!

Preparing for CompTIA Certification – Any Tips to Getting My Voucher?

Hello @Abdelhamid which exam voucher are you waiting on, A+? If that is the one, they have not been distributed. It will probably be a couple of weeks before they go out. I do apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience as we work through the distribution process!
@Stephen Schneiter Thank you so much for your response!
Yes. I'm also to take the Tech+ exam, as I'm aiming to follow the full Infrastructure track- starting from Tech+, then moving on to A+, Network+, and beyond.
I’d really appreciate it if you could also guide me on how to obtain the Tech+ voucher when it becomes available.
Thanks again for your support and for all the work you’re doing for the CIN community!

Preparing for CompTIA Certification – Any Tips to Getting My Voucher?

Hi everyone,

I'm Abdelhamid from Qdrat Institute for Training in Saudi Arabia. I currently teach foundational IT courses.

At the moment, I'm preparing myself to become a CompTIA certified trainer.
I haven’t obtained my exam voucher yet, and I’d really appreciate it if anyone could guide me on how to get it and what steps I need to follow.
I’m eager to understand the process and make sure I’m doing things the right way.

Also, if you have any tips, resources, or advice that helped you during your own certification journey, I’d love to hear them!

Thanks in advance – looking forward to learning from your experiences!

Canvas Integration - Concerns for default Point Values

Hello,

I am working with the CompTIA implementation team, but curious if others have identified these issues and how you are handling it.

When reviewing the point value of lab assignments, I observed that some labs seem wildly pointed which will result in significantly skewing grades without intervention.

Live labs (Perform product) are all pointed at 1 point, where as simulated labs are typically pointed based on the number of steps graded (ex: 2-10).

My concern is for live labs which appear to be consistently be valued at 1 point is devaluing them considerably against simulated labs which require much less work. Additionally, some simulated labs seeming to not follow the convention of one point per item graded and are pointed with what appear as crazy inappropriate values (upwards of over 30,000 points).

While I can update point values in Canvas, this appears to be a manually intensive operation, requiring each assignment to be updated individually. I am curious if others have seen this and have a better work around other than manually updating each assignment point value.

examples of simulated lab point values identified in Certmaster Perform Network + out of normal range for reference:
4.1.7 – Lab Explore ARP in Wireshark 311 points

4.4.7 - Lab: Use IPv4 Test Tools 611 points

6.4.11 - Lab: Troubleshoot IP Configuration 3 31,111 points

9.2.5 – Lab: Analyze a DDos Attack 1,111 points

12.1.9 - Lab: Configure Wireless Profiles 51 points

** any "live" lab 1 point
