220-1102 Exam

Team, I sat and passed (updated my A+), 220-1102 last night! Great exam, @comptia ! From the perspective of the Help Desk, the exam hit its target. Customer service is extremely important and that was stressed on this exam. The questions were real-world and gets you thinking. Hmmm...how would I handle this situation if I was helping this customer?

For those of you that are ramping up for this exam, know your testing objectives and how to troubleshoot them. Keep one thing in mind, CompTIA assumes the tester knows the objectives. They are testing you on the application.

Keep objective 4.7 in mind. Great customer service results in positive outcomes. Review the security domain, as well. So many various security issues that your customers have 😜

Question of the Week #16 - Single Sign On

Hey everyone and Happy Monday! I wanted to throw this out there this week as we are a good ways into the NEW CompTIA SSO process, and wanted to make sure to address any questions around this topic.

Thoughts on IOT Lab Series

The Spring semester is history (grades in) and I'm scaling back from teaching, slipping into retirement. But as most of you know, I'm not very good at doing nothing. Below are the links for the first two articles in a series of articles that I think would ultimately lead to a series of labs that could benefit students and be completed on their SOHO wireless networks at a minimum cost (equipment is around $50) that will result in substantial savings on their electricity bill.

https://www.emporiaenergy.com/blog/managing-electrical-energy-costs-with-tou-limitations

https://www.emporiaenergy.com/blog/...cisions-on-time-of-use-electrical-consumption

Because of the large amount of valuable data being collected in this home project, it provides the opportunity for students to gain a general understanding of why machine learning makes sense and how, through the development of relatively simple coding, to automatically decide on where and when to toggle smart plugs and switches. This will be the focus of my next article.

The 4th article will focus on security techniques associated with isolating this network of IOT devices from my standard home network equipment since it is reasonable to assume these $10 smart plugs and other IOT devices were not built with security as a primary concern.

What makes this series of labs additionally appealing is the potential for reduced energy bills and the ecological benefit associated with the reduction of energy consumption.

Retirement now provides the opportunity to focus on these sort of "geekish experiments" that provide practical solutions to real-world problems. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this idea.

Thanks,

Steve

Certification preparation resources (Reddit negativity)

I would love to get your feedback. Why on the Reddit for CompTIA is there so much negativity toward official learning resources? Why does everyone almost always recommend Dion and Messer? So many of us are trying to teach to students and I can't help wonder if I should be using different resources. I certainly understand the advantage of using multiple resources, but due to time and budgets, I can't have/use everything.

Technology HUB Pilot Application - Middle School/Junior High

We are working on an exciting new project and wanted to see if you or anyone you know are interested in being a pilot school again.

We are creating a website where students, teachers, and other adult champions can access free courseware and learn more about technology. There will be curricula that can be taught in schools and self-guided lessons for students. In addition, we will be building a career cluster section, where students can learn about technology careers in different industries.

We are looking for some middle and junior-high schools to pilot some of our content beginning in August 2022. If you or someone you know is interested, please refer to the sign-up form below. There is more detail included in the link below.

https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/4aec0f9be3344eefa8d48ed7f0edf6c6

We will get in touch with the school as soon as we receive an application for additional instructions.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Thanks,

CIN Train-the-Trainer : A+ Core 1 220-1101 Session 11&12 Content not available or is still being processed

Hi all

I've been trying to catch-up on the last A+ TTT sessions 11&12 , but on24 keeps saying the Content not available or is still being processed.

Anyone else out there getting the same issue?

Recorded Day 1 of 5 Welcome to Class

Hi Everyone,

Just curious if anyone has a recording of a day 1 of 5 day delivery where they walk through the CertMaster Platform, show how to use it, tell the Learners how to use it, and then talk about the method they (as an Instructor) are going to use to deliver the course?

My thinking is that (depending on the size of the class) it would be like the first hour or less of the course.

Thanks everyone.

Passed CompTIA Data+ earlier this week but I have feedback

Hi All

I wrote the CompTIA Data+ earlier this week and I passed! All the TTT content helped immensely and glad to have seen stuff that I have encountered in other training & consulting gigs.

I was surprised that I was not able to leave feedback after the exam. Normally PearsonVUE allows to submit feedback per question and feedback overall but that screen didn't show up. I have some feedback I'd like to provide during my experience of the Data+ exam. Where would be the most appropriate place to do this?

Also, because the Data+ voucher has not arrived yet, I paid for one out of the CompTIA Store. If I attended the TTT, and the voucher arrives, can I somehow be compensated by returning the voucher or can I just give it to someone else (since I have passed the exam already)? I needed to write it because I had opportunities to train it should I pass and didn't want to miss out on them.

How long have you been CompTIA certified?

How long have you been CompTIA certified? I originally passed the A+ back in 1999 and therefore am GFL. I also have the CE certification.

I am curious of how "old" my certification is in comparison to my peers on here.

(I just contacted CompTIA about getting access to my certification records and have them connected to an email account I still access.)

A+ TTT Webinar Excercises list

I haven't been able to attend the last few webinars live, since I am now teaching some evening classes which conflict timewise. I have been listening to the on-demand content but I haven't heard (Or I've missed) Allen mention the list he talked about posting regarding Kahoot exercises (or others) that he had been asking attendees to post in the meeting chat. Did that get posted somewhere that I missed, or is it still something that's being worked on?

Network+ N10-007 Retirement

Sorry, I'm new here so I'm not sure if this has been addressed. I've seen a tentative release for the N10-008 Network+ Exam for August 2021. However, does anyone know if there will also be the usual 6 to 8 month overlap in Exam options before the N10-007 is completely retired and one can no longer sit for that one? Any input would be very helpful. Thank you.
