Hi everyone. I'm a product developer for CompTIA's training products. We're currently doing research on how labs are implemented in various training programs. Currently, our instructor guides come with directions on how to set up computers in the classroom in order to run the lab activities. We also offer a separate product, CompTIA Labs, that can be used in conjunction with the guides to run the lab activities through a virtual lab platform, Learn on Demand Systems.

How are labs run in your organization? Do you use a virtual lab platform like Learn on Demand or do you use locally-hosted machines? What are the benefits and drawbacks to your current setup?

When can/do instructors get an opportunity to participate in the new Server+ Beta examinations?

I am wanting to add a Network+ course and I am wondering if anyone else has used CompTIA's materials as an entire semester course or used as supplemental material for another course. If both have options have been used, which one seemed to work best? Thanks I am excited to be a part of this community.

This may be a dumb question but is there any benefit in sitting the CS0-002 beta exam if one has already passed CS0-001 and is CySA+ certified?

And how does the beta exam work and how long will it be available?

Peeps, I'm having a tough time finding a place where I can create some online labs for CompTIA certs. It seems I can get free VMs in the cloud for a 12-month trial period from all of the big names, but I need a place that will never charge my students any money. I very often am teaching people who made it into an income-based program, so I cannot reasonably ask them to spend more money than they have.

It would seem simple enough to get people to do the labs locally through Oracle VirtualBox or through Hyper-V (if available), but we also run into the issue of having classroom computers that simply are not robust enough (typically lacking RAM) to do the job right. We also have the ongoing problem of labs in the books that require Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, and such, which are not free, although we can ask students to download trial versions.

I'm finding myself very frustrated by the books that came from the LOChoice acquisition, as they ask us to do labs that we cannot do, and the online downloads do not even include the instructor setup files. I'm hoping someone here can help me help my students.

I've taken a few online practice tests for Security+ and have scored well above passing for almost all categories - but need some brushing up on a few areas.

Without purchasing an entire in-depth exam study guide, are there any good resources out there designed to quickly get an experienced IT professional up-to-speed? More of a "Cliffs Notes" version - but NOT a "memorize these answers" cheater version.

I'm curious about the CompTIA CertMaster Linux product. In my undergraduate courses, I often get questions like, "What's the best tool to use to prep for the certification exam?", or "Can you recommend a good 'test simulation' product?". One would logically reason that the "best" prep tool is the one offered by the certifying body responsible for the examination. That said, I didn't actually use the product when I obtained the Linux+ certification. Thus, I don't feel comfortable recommending the tool to my students based on my lack of first-hand knowledge.

Have you used the CertMaster product? If so, do you recommend CertMaster as a good prep tool? What did you like about CertMaster?
