CompTIA Learn Strengths & Weaknesses

Some of my students which are using CompTIA Learn are wondering how the "Strength & Weaknesses" score is calculated, and how they might be able to improve their rating. A few questions:

- Are there any guides explaining how this works on the backend?
- Does the system use historical performance, i.e., if I retake practice questions, will my rating improve?
- Baring specific details, are there any generic guidance on how one might go about increasing their score?

A+ certified x2 (GFL+CE), and just 25 years between them!

Got my 1102 TTT voucher on Thursday afternoon and took the exam at pretty much my first opportunity--which happened to be this morning at 12:45 am. ? Passed with a 761 after just a quick run-through of all of the practice questions on the Official Instructor Guide. I didn't go too hard with review for this one because I figured that if I didn't pass, I'd be getting another free voucher in a few months anyway when I registered for the corresponding course at WGU, but now I don't even have to take that!

A+ GFL certified February 1998
A+ CE certified September 2022

  • Question
A+ Classroom Length

From your experience what is a good timeframe/schedule to teach the A+ Core 1 & 2 Objectives. Do you separate 1 & 2 into different classes? How long do you give for each? 4 weeks? How many hours per day?

We will soon be teaching these courses at a Junior college and want to also build them into credit courses where they would get an Associates degree and leave with an A+ cert if desired. I visualize Core 1 being a 3 credit course and 2 being another. I think the traditional 16 weeks of most college courses is too long and students are likely to forget something from almost 4 months prior. What types of schedules do you use?

Does anyone currently do something like this? Any insight is most appreciated.

Thanks,

j

Linux+ TTT series

Hi, I have attended all 10 Linux+ TtT sessions via ON24. I have all of my certificates, and also have them downloaded, however if I now go back to access any of the recorded sessions I receive an error advising my email address is not registered.

If I click the webinar link from within the Webcast emails I can access the sessions on demand, using my email address.

I just want to check that my attendance has been registered correctly for the Linux+ sessions.

Thanks.
Rob.

A+ training and hands-on hardware usage.

We are going to begin training students for A+ cert and am wondering what types of hardware you use during the training. I'm talking the hands-on stuff not just simulations. Does anyone have a list of "nice to haves" they use for training? PC's, Laptops, switches, etc...

Are there any specific OS requirements also such as Windows or Linux servers to play with that anyone uses. I'd like to set up a nice lab that students can actually perform the required work.

Thanks for any input or suggestions you have.

A+ TTT Core1 series Voucher (who not received also ?)

It's been a month now after talking to Stephen.?
And there is no response from @Stephen Schneiter Stephen, He indicated that he will review and respond to the email.
So for those who send an email and address them about the discount voucher.
I see that there has been a lot of delay and confusion since the beginning A+ TTT series.
Also, there is no definitive response regarding the legality of obtaining the future
While I received a voucher of previous TTT Pentest+,CASP+,Data+.

Questions for Fun and Profit - Security Edition

In keeping with @Trevor Chandler 's idea, I think it will be fun to start tossing out questions. Maybe it's something we all can do to keep sharp.

1. Your CEO is concerned about security leaks in the organization. So, she shares three versions of info about a product release, one to the head of marketing, one to the head of finance, and one to the head of business development. Each department head is given specific instructions to not disclose the information to anyone else. Two weeks later, she is told that information about that the story released to the finance director ended up on LinkedIn. She now knows the leak is with her finance lead.

What kind of technique did she employ?

2. You are concerned about rainbow tables, employed against your passwords. So, you require salting to be employed, however, you wish to keep the salt values secret. What is this called?

3. Diffie-Hellman (and Elliptic Curve) was created in the 70's to overcome what cryptographic problem? From what ancient mathematic crypto concept is this derived?

No multiple guesses. You gotta figure 'em out. And of course, Googlers only get 10% credit.
