Cybersecurity history

A while ago, I found an old Wiley Cybersecurity book from the early 90s and decided to see what has changed from then until now.
I did up a short blog post on the similarities and differences here: https://jasoneckert.github.io/myblog/cybersecurity-in-the-90s/
I'm posting it here as it may make for a fun extra resource when teaching a Cybersecurity course.

Seeking additional Data+ Instructors

We are looking to add at least 3 additional talented and engaging Data+ instructors as we anticipate high demand for Data+ cohorts. Data+ is a pre-cursor to an intensive Data Analyst program that we deliver and we are essentially making it a pre-requisite for our students. We prefer that our instructors have some practical data analytics and/or data science background. US based citizens only please, as we often teach on military bases.

We will need 1 more evening instructor - delivery format is Monday through Thursday evening Online Live from 6:00 to 9:30 pm EST.

We will need 2 more daytime bootcamp instructors - delivery format is Monday through Thursday evenings Online live from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm CST and EST. These are delivered Online Live, at our classrooms through Florida and Alabama, and at client locations.

Our instructor team will tell you that they are treated well and we would like the opportunity to share our culture with you. Thank you for your consideration!

  • Question
Teaching Tips

I'm looking for extra part-time teaching opportunities for a little extra income any suggestions on places to look?
I teach CompTIA cert classes at work usually twice a year for 6 weeks at a time so I'm looking for part-time opportunities.
Also, slide decks: Create my own or use CompTIA templates....assuming there are CompTIA templates available?

Thanks!

  • Question
Cloud Lab

Does anyone have a 30 to 60-minute lab on "Cloud" basics? I was thinking of having students launch some AWS resources (free tier). Does anyone have something you can share on building / launching / managing cloud resources to put their learning into practice? This is for my 16 and 17 year old A+ students.

  • Question
Youngest ITF+?

An associate/student of mine just completed ITF+ along with his 8 year old daughter. She passed the test a couple of days before her 9th birthday (passed about 3 days ago). I know that CompTIA made a big deal a few years ago when a 12 year old was the youngest person to achieve A+ cert. Not looking for any hullabaloo but wondering if the good folks at CompTIA could check into the youngest ITF+ passer?

Thank you,

Is it beneficial to study for Core 1 and Core 2 together or separately?

Most of the courses I have seen combine the Core 1 and Core 2 material into a single course. Do you think there is any benefit for students to focus on Core 1 first and then Core 2 (after passing the Core 1 exam)?

Thanks in advance for your input,
Joe

Question of the Week #5 - Answer

It's Friyay Instructors!! And time for the answer to our Question of the week which was: How do I interpret my reporting? How do I break down my reporting for my student?

CM Learn
Within CertMaster Learn you are able to use the CertMaster Learn Reporting Guide to help you effectively interpret the reporting for your students. Our Guide provides you with key indicators as a way of assessing and dissecting the analytics presented to you within the reporting hub, the Boost Dashboard. As the Instructor, you have the ability to view, review and dissect your student's performance as well as your Group’s performance. Remember, the Group's feature is a very important part of the reporting process because grouping the Instructor and the Students (forming a 'class'), helps drive the reporting to the Boost Dashboard. The CertMaster Learn Reporting Guide is linked here.

CM Labs
Reporting is available through Usage-Based Billing (Contact your Business Development Manager to enquire ) and through the CertMaster Learn and CertMaster Labs Integrated product. With the CertMaster Learn and CertMaster Lab Integrated product, you will have all the benefits of dissecting your reporting within the CertMaster Learn Boost Dashboard, Because you will be viewing the reporting within CertMaster Learn, the CertMaster Learn Reporting Guide will be a great resource to use when navigating your student's progress and dissecting their performance.

CM Practice
Within CertMaster Practice, you are able to use the CertMaster Practice Reporting Guide to assist with effectively interpreting the reporting for your learner. This Guide will provide you with key indicators to look out for when interpreting the analytics contained within the three reporting structures: Report Home, Course Summary, and Learner Progress. The Instructor is presented with robust reporting within CertMaster Practice and we have linked our CertMaster Practice Reporting Guide here, so please check it out.

We also have a fantastic testimonial from one of our CIN’ers!! Thank you to @Rick Butler, who has established some excellent best practices within CertMaster Learn and our reporting hub, the Boost Dashboard!

‘Well, the Instructor has the ability to look at a student's progress, individually. The instructor can also assess the performance of a group (class) in a composite fashion, to see where the group may be struggling as a whole. This also has the extra added benefit of the instructor finding holes in their instructional approach. The part of this that I actually like is being able to download the results. This effectively will allow the instructor to create a more composite report based on a larger sample. This has the benefit of helping instructors to optimize the curriculum they use.’ – Rick Butler
