TTT two Sessions 1101 and 1102 collide

Can it really be, that the last Moduls of 1101 are on the same day as the bginning of 1102 only one hour apart ?

I just registered for the 1102 Series and added the Dates via .ics to Outlook:
17th :
0600 CDT: Session 1 for 220-1102
0700 CDT: Session 11 for 220-1101
19th:
0600 CDT: Session 2 for 220-1102
0700 CDT: Session 12 for 220-1101

I though the Sessions running each for 2hours.

Is that by purpose?

I watch them later, since this is in the middle of the Night for me, so i doesn`t apply for me, only if you following live...

Passed PenTest+

Happy to share that I passed the PenTest+ exam today. Thanks for running the TTT, helped with my studying and is good prep and direction for studying and future teaching opportunities. Having this resource in my arsenal was pretty valuable. For those still prepping and studying for the exam get your hands on as many study materials as you can from different sources, that will make the difference. Good luck to the rest of you!

Anyone in Charlotte, North Carolina

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and was wondering if any of my peer Instructors are located in Charlotte, North Carolina that I can connect with? I am delivering my first Server+ class next week and could use some situational experience for the benefit of my Learners.

My email address is [email protected].

Anyone?

Thanks so much.

A Funny Thing

So I was sitting in my chair reviewing the A+ TTT for Session Five, and of course, treated to my own wondrous and melodious voice and picture of me. BTW - Alan is doing a great job, so if you're not watching them, you need to start!

My oldest (23) comes in, looks at my screen, "So, whatcha watching - is that a recording?"

Without missing a beat, I say, "No kiddo, it's live."

I love my daughter. She's a genius programmer, making that crazy money in software development. Degree in CS and Math. Knows about five languages and can speak Ansible natively. And apparently, she had a tough day dredging through tickets.

But...

She figured it out after a minute. Had a chuckle - went on to play Mass Effect.

A day in the life in the Butler household. Good times.

Question of the Week and GIVEAWAY

Happy Monday Everyone! I know you are all excited for our Question of the Week, and this week we are going to try something… a little different

We know you have heard a lot from us, but we want to hear from YOU! Anything goes, whether it's a future topic you'd like us to cover or a question you have that is relevant to you.

To make things a bit more exciting, we will be doing a Random Giveaway drawing for all those who have participated sometime this week. EVERY submission will be included into our giveaway (i.e., if you have 2 submissions, you get 2 entries).

We will draw multiple names, and winners will have their choice of some FREE content (voucher, e-learning, eBooks, etc.) or some very cool “CIN Swag” (thanks Rick Butler)!

So who wants to start us off with a QUESTION? Leave your questions/topics in the comments below. Good Luck!!

Turning down students

What are your indicators that a relationship between you and a potential student is not going to work? I recently had a student who demanded I change my family schedule (start class later) to be able to let her sleep in to mid morning. This student also refused to communicate by phone and was surprised and offended when I suggested that they would need to rely on personal study and practice test taking in order to take in the information (change it from passive understanding to active application of knowledge) well enough to pass the certification exam (which this student had already failed once).

I am NOT trying to start a string of complaints about students. I AM asking if you have a metric or threshold that you use to measure your potential effectiveness with students.

In this case, after a few more conversations, I declined to further work with the student.

Hi everyone and happy Friday!

We have heard great feedback on what YOU are doing today that puts students in the best position to pass the certification exam. This has included students rooting down the fundamentals, understanding the objectives of their courses, utilizing technology, and providing students as many options to help them learn. These are all great answers, and a big thank you to those who participated!

Question:
What are YOU doing today or what CAN you do to put your students in the best position to pass the certification exam?

For our answer this week, we will provide out CertMaster Suite of Solutions: CertMaster Learn, CertMaster Labs, and CertMaster Practice.

One way you CAN put your students in the best position to pass the certification exam is by using CompTIA CertMaster Suite. The following will highlight on how each solution aids in the student's certification journey:
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
CertMaster Learn is a comprehensive eLearning experience that helps learners gain the knowledge and practical skills necessary to be successful on CompTIA certifications exams, and in their IT careers.

Instructional lessons are combined with video, practice questions, and performance-based questions. ALL content is aligned with the CompTIA exam objectives.

CertMaster Learn gives students the ability to see their Strengths and Weaknesses in their course. This shows the students which lessons to focus on. Similarly, all practice questions and activities are broken down to show what you know and what you don't.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
CertMaster Labs enables the hands-on practice and skills development using real equipment and software accessed through a remote, browser-based lab environment.

All Labs are aligned with official CompTIA learning products such as CertMaster Learn and the CompTIA exam objectives.

The Assisted Labs and Applied Labs are great for letting Students use the skills they learned in a simulated environment. The Assisted labs will take students through a lab activity with more support, and step-by-step instructions. The Applied Labs allows students to use what they learned to complete tasks within the VM environment.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
CertMaster Practice is an online knowledge assessment and training companion tool to help you prepare for your CompTIA certification exam

This solution quickly assesses what you already know and what you still need to learn and provides personalized remediation and feedback.

Students can use CertMaster Practice's modules to take practice questions in different areas. After a student completes the set of questions the first time through, they can then take a "Smart Refresh" or a "Full Refresh."

The Smart Refresh will allow students to take the questions again but only the questions they got wrong. The Full Refresh will allow students to take the entire module over again.

  • Question
Course Length Network+

I was asked a question, why does the Network + course have to be a week long course?

How long do take to train the Network + course? a week, two weeks?

What would your answer be when posed this question? why a week or longer? and would i show them my detailed plan for the training?

Theres another question in there, how do you plan for the week or forever long you train your course?

I always want to improve so some insight will be appreciated.

Data + Materials

Hi @Stephen Schneiter

Good day to you.

""NOT REGARDING EXAM VOUCHER""

I registered Data+ using my outlook email address.

I watched all the videos. However, I never got the materials.

I checked with my fellow trainers and they have received the materials. Can you look into it?

Question:
What are YOU doing today or what CAN you do to put your students in the best position to pass the certification exam?

There are multiple answers to this question, so feel free to share!
Enjoy the rest of your week, and check back in Friday for our answer!

now exam is 3year renewals by test

Until recently if you renewed a CompTIA certification by taking an exam your certification was not renewed by 3 years from expire date but date you took test on. If used CEUs and renewed early it renewed from expire date.

When I just passed Security+ and it renewed network+ and security+ for 3 years from expire date. So mine expire in 2027. I am glad they do this.

I agree with following but caveat for you. If you do then have a long expire date, nothing counts for renewal on that new cert date until you get in 3 year window to expire date.

Are delimited files Structured or Unstructured?

The material seems to imply that delimited files are structured, but on the practice exam there was a question asking which file types are considered unstructured and the only right answer was Delimited. Was that an error on the question? or are delimited files a weird hybrid of both structured and unstructured?

New Comptia courses

New Comptia A+ modules is really great. For academic use for college and university is very Good.

The problem is with corporate classes.
I would suggest a trainer teach Comptia A+ 1101 course to the management staff as their students. Let the trainer go thru the modules and also finish the lab exercise within 5 days.

Really would like see what the students feedback. And hope in our TTT series can tell us how to teach the corporate students within 5 days. Theory and hands on practical lab.

This not only for A+ but for Network+, Security+, CYSA+ , Pentest+, CASP+.

The modules are really very good. It's will take atleast 7 days according to my calculations to do theory and practical for each courses above.

Can try doing training for internal staff of comptia and get the feed back from them. Let them sit for exam too.
