Keep up the good work. The PowerPoints for the certifications, Word documents, and guest PowerPoints are a great resource. Working with CompTIA since 1999/2000(?), the resources we have now are unbelievable.

Question: Are there "official" Comptia powerpoints that are available to instructors for each certification?

I've been using my textbook publisher's resources and found some of them to be lacking in content in certain areas, and I wanted to know if there was something better that covered everything students were expected to know.

If some one going to teach Microsoft course he introduce himself as an MCT and some of them proudly shows his MCT certificate

I did not hear from Stephen in the current TTT DataSys+ sessions to talk about TTT Cysa+ voucher.
Stephen said we shall receive it automatically in our mails. They are using a new system to this now. But am yet to receive.

We have been providing these CompTIA courses since January of 2022 and have consistently been enrolling more and more students and are now in need of an additional trainer to help with added classes as well as bootcamps for local businesses/contractors to certify their employees and transitioning military. The position is a remote part time position at roughly 20 hours per week starting at $30/hr as a contract trainer. In our IT programs, we provide students with vouchers which cover the cost of whichever certification exams may be covered in that program. For example, in our beginning IT program, we provide the students with vouchers to take the A+ and Network+ exams, however, many of them never seem to get around to taking them, and of course, we are supposed to provide pass rates for the exams. I have heard of some schools and programs that basically embed the certification exams into the coursework.

Does anyone have an example of best practices on how to do this, and to get the students to actually take the exam.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I know that the TTT Sessions follow the map of which CompTIA certs are being upgraded to new versions, but I've had difficulty figuring out what comes next! I still need to do the exam for Linux+, and I haven't had the time to dive into the last few but am coming into a period where I have more time available.

Had a student miss a question today based upon information that does not appear in the SG or slides. It has to do with False Positive being synonymous with False Acceptance Rate. And while the definition (someone's biometric matching with the wrong person and possibly giving them unauthorized access), somewhat lines up, it isn't something they would be able to read and extrapolate. And for False Negative, it means that someone was denied access that should have been given access based upon proper credentials/biometrics, being synonymous with False Rejection Rate. My issue isn't the definitions, it is that this information is not presented to the students in a way that they would get the question correct, since we usually refer to False Positive/Negative in terms of vulnerability analysis and device alerts, and they don't quite line up with the biometrics in terms of their meanings. I added it as an addendum to make sure my students know these definitions now. Maybe I'm totally wrong though. I defer to the esteemed consensus of my fellow instructors.

It was great meeting up with fellow CINers. Great information and ideas were exchanged. I just have more questions regarding the TestOut certification phase out and the plans for the replacement of the TestOut certifications. CompTIA reveals roadmap for Xpert Series product family​

The CompTIA Xpert Series certifications are scheduled for release throughout 2024. The certifications are intended for IT professionals with multiple years of work experience who are interested in validating their expert-level knowledge of business-critical technologies.
“Each certification exam will validate deep expertise in job roles recognized as being at the expert level,” said Thomas Reilly, chief product officer, CompTIA. “Beyond validating technical skills, IT pros who earn a CompTIA Xpert Series certification will have demonstrated their ability to understand, implement and articulate advanced technology solutions in any business environment.”
The CompTIA Xpert Series will debut with three certifications.
CompTIA DataX, an advanced-level data science credential.

CompTIA CloudNetX, intended for advanced network and systems architects who design and manage complex, hybrid IT infrastructures.

CompTIA SecurityX, the next iteration of the current CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), aimed at security architects, senior security engineers and others responsible for an organization’s cybersecurity readiness.
“The first set of Xpert Series certifications will establish a foundation for a broader expansion into expert-level credentials and learning,” Reilly said. “This may include additional CompTIA certifications, CompTIA training for credentials issued by other organizations or training on expert-level skills that may not be associated with a specific certification.”
Two IT professionals who are participating in the certification development process as subject matter experts believe the CompTIA Xpert Series will be welcomed by the IT community, especially among mid-level and advanced level professionals.
"The Xpert Series exams are a great addition to CompTIA's portfolio,” said Alex Cher, who has worked in IT and cybersecurity since 2006. “CompTIA has an advanced-level certification in cybersecurity, so it makes sense to create similar, advanced exams for infrastructure and other certification categories. The Xpert Series will perfectly fill that void."
“Ongoing career professional development by gaining new skills and experiences is vital to anyone working in IT,” said Riaz Khimji, who heads the IT Support Staff Services and Business Relationship Management Collegiate IT, at the University of Oxford. “Individuals can be even more successful in their current role and gain further knowledge in other areas of interest as they progress in their careers. Certifications such as those offered by CompTIA allow them to validate their newly acquired skills.”
